Amazon music on Google TV with Chromecast plugged into the Q990 soundbar or a TV with eARC seems to do the job. The Amazon app claims it's playing Atmos and not "ultra" when set up this way.

I too was really disappointed that apple tv app on my samsung TV doesn't pass through Atmos to my soundbar Q950A. Only apple music on phone or apple tv box support it. Did you check the apple music app on Nvidia shield? Does it pass through Atmos, as Android apple music app does support lossless/Atmos.

Is it worth it to buy the Apple TV compared to playing “stereo” music? And if you play lossless on atmos off does the arc see the tv signal and doesn’t use full rear sound like I play music now?

I can play atmos in my sonos arc surround using Tidal app in my sony bravia xr A80J. So not true that you can only use apple tv to play atmos in sonos arc. You can also play Atmos in Tidal app through Airplay from iPhone to Sonos Arc.

Dolby atmos music with tidal on my q950a is quite underwhelming, some songs you cant even hear what there saying
