My ex-brother-in-law, tried his level best to gain control of my finances. Accused me of being a absolutely horrible person that I would not relinquish control over to him. And since I would not do so, that this constituted proof that I was stealing from him. So very glad that I got away from that situation.

It begins with a gesture "intending to save you money", then eventually morphs into "why did you buy that?".
Another red flag is when they want you to quit your job or stop looking for one.

Oh they tried to ruin my credit sevral times. Besides going into my work and demanding they fire me.💯

My ex controlled all of our finances. I shopped goodwill for our children’s clothes and he bought the best hunting and fishing equipment in secret. We were in a church that supported this behavior making him the boss.
I had to show grocery receipts and had to buy generic brands of food for our children while he would only eat name brand.

My Ex did both! Spend crazy & then needed a bankruptcy & used and abused my credit

They made me feel guilty for wanting to keep my own acct open even aft i agreed to open a separate joint acct. Almost every day they'd get online and look at the bank statement & question me of certain transactions so id have to defend myself daily.

Well my ex would say, because I over spend on unnecessary grocery or other stuffs, I had know right to hold onto his credit card. I was limited in spending his money, and never trusted me in doing any grocery shopping, by complaining that I over bought something that wasn't necessary in his eyes, using logic over my thoughts and feelings at every thing I say or do, until I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong but speak my mind and my truth. Lord help me discern what was deception and manipulation. Praise God 🙏
