In this video I'm going to show you how to perform the Half Turkish get up using a dumbbell, however you can use this turkish get up progression (1/2 TGU) full tutorial video for kettlebell half turkish get ups as well.

In fact, the dumbbell half turkish get up is a great beginner variation of the full dumbbell or kettlebell turkish get up and can be used in a similar manner to create shoulder stability, core strength and mid-line stabilization, and total body stability and mobility..

With that, here's what you'll learn in today's video:

First, I'll show you the proper positioning in the set up position of the half turkish get up, and take you step by step at what your legs, arms, and core should be doing and what the start position should look like in the half turkish get up (dumbbell and kettlebell versions). This is the same positioning as the full Turkish get up at this point.

Next, I'll discuss how to properly initiate the half Turkish get up by using your glutes, core, and upper body to move off the floor and into half turkish get up position.

Additionally, we will review how to properly support the load overhead to ensure shoulder stability and strength.

Lastly, I will discuss how to stabilize the half Turkish get up as you reverse the order to go from the half Turkish get up finish position to the start position of the next repetition.

Throughout the entire video, I will provide various views of the muscles and set up position during the dumbbell half Turkish get up.
