Another Turf Wars tip for any newcomers: Walls don’t count towards your point total, only the ground does. Only ink the walls if you need to swim up it.

Great video, Felix! I'd like to add that you shouldn't be afraid to try and find your own rhythm or think you need to play aggressively to contribute. For example, I have depth-perception trouble and shaky hands so I can't really use motion controls or be incredibly accurate when it comes to splatting the other team. So, I've learned to hang back, covering as much ground as I can or going over spots my teammates have missed during turf wars and playing support during ranked. Focus on your strengths, trust the rest of the team to make up for your weaknesses and keep experimenting until you find a playstyle that fits you.

Just started playing today, my first ever Splatoon game. At 45+ years old, I don't have a hope in traditional multiplayers. In this game, I feel like I do. Plus, it's fun, and I think the short games will make it addictive.

Tips for Salmon Run :
- ink the walls and the edge of the floor. It really comes in handy when there's the rush of ferocious Salmonids.
- don't forget to use specials ! Especially when you're the only one left and your have to revive them.
- when you're far from a dead teammates, revive them by throwing a bomb.

My strategy is always to rush the center and gain control, then ink the spawn once I inevitably get splatted. Having your team controlling the center makes it a lot less likely that the enemy team will push into your areas while covering the base area.

I think a lot of people are really use to COD/Fortnite style games where kills are the goal. So they play Splatoon similar and focus on kills more than inking the most territory. I’ve been on teams where we had alot of kills but we lost cause they covered more ground with their color.

A few more Salmon Run tips, in addition to the ones Felix already covered in the video:

1) Ink the walls! Sure, you don't get points for that in Turf Wars, but they will become precious life saving escape routes and helpful shortcuts in hectic Salmon Run matches! The safe periods right before waves start are your best opportunity for this.
2) When you inevitably get KO'd in Salmon Run, don't just silently sit still hoping someone will eventually notice you. Press up on the D-pad to signal for "Help!" when your life raft pops up so your teammates know where to find you, and try to actively move toward where your teammates are!
3) Relatedly, if you're still alive and a teammate is calling for help, signal "This way!" so that your KO'd teammate(s) will know where to find you!
4) Generally speaking, you should almost always prioritize rescuing downed teammates. If your current weapon can't reach them, has a charge time or you simply think you're about to die, splat bombs are great for saving someone from a distance.
5) If you see a Flyfish (those flying jerks that shoot missiles at you), try to take out at least 1 of its launchers (splat bombs will be your main method for this, but some specials function similarly to bombs or even pierce their armor entirely) - it's okay even if you don't finish it off completely! Trust me, even a half-functional Flyfish will make everyone's jobs so much easier.
6) Occasionally, you'll come across an enemy called the Big Shot, which will bring a cannon out to fire annoying waves throughout the arena, making life that much more difficult for your team. Those cannons, however, can be turned to your advantage; you can re-purpose them to fire nearby golden eggs close to the basket! And unlike your standard egg thrower, it doesn't use up any ink to do so!
7) Maws (the boss that likes to swim directly under you and eat you in one bite) may seem tanky if you just shoot at it, but if you leave a splat bomb right over where it's about to pop up, you'll finish it off in 1 blow. Also be aware that Maws can swim up walls, so be mindful that they can still get you if you're on high ground, even on top of a Fishstick pillar.
8) If you get the King Salmonid wave after the initial 3, launching the golden eggs you get from bosses should be your primary damage dealer; your main weapons won't do much against him.
9) Also for the King Salmond wave, those golden eggs can 1-shot KO other bosses! Turn 1 egg into 3 more and give yourselves more ammunition to work with!
10) If you're not totally comfortable with 1 or more of the weapons in the current rotation, Salmon Run in Splatoon 3 now has a testing range where you can safely practice using each of them. Also, the story mode missions that focus on/give you the option to use them are a great way to get a handle on their basics.

EDIT: Bonus tip! Drizzlers, the guys that hide underneath the metal umbrellas and make it rain ink, can be taken out in one shot if you shoot their missile directly back at them! The situation won't always allow for that (SR can turn truly chaotic very quickly), but it's always a good idea to at least knock that missile out of the sky to prevent a harmful ink storm.

I tried both motion and standard controls, and I just prefer the standard control by a mile. Might just be me, but motion just feels annoying, and I feel way more accurate with the stick alone.

For anyone struggling with the motion controls, I would suggest going through the campaign using using them. It's a great way to get used to them

" ink your base"
Yeah but not everything at the beginnig of the match.
Leave some uninked, so you get your special meter up after dying 😀

Quick correction; squidroll doesn't give you invincibility frames it will reduce damage but you can still die in a squidroll

Don't ink the base. Ink it as you spawn. Lose so many matches because constantly getting 2v1'd while my team is in base hanging around.

If you just happen to be an adult or a kid or maybe a squid who is new to Splatoon, here are some nice tips I learned! (Some of them might have been mentioned in the video, I don't know lol)

1. If you are using a charger, and you have held your charge in the ink (as in fully charging it and then going in your ink), you can still squid roll! Also, the enemy team can see where your laser is pointing, so they can see if you're targeting them. So if you hold your charge, squid roll in front of your target, shoot, they won't have any idea who your target was in the first place. But, this trick is hard to do.

2. If you are using a blaster that has a slow shooting time (like you shoot and it takes forever to shoot again), right after you shoot once, go in your ink, come out, and shoot again. A lot of pros use this so they can get kills faster. You can also squid roll and shoot if you're in a close 1v1 to get a direct hit without them getting you first.

3. Another charger tip. If you don't have motion controls and you have a charger, try to get used to motion because it's very helpful. Why I say this is because there is this thing called a "flick". A flick is when a charger is fully charged and "flicks" their entire controller to the enemy, shoots, and looks back to the direction they were looking at before they flicked. I've done this multiple times and it's really helpful if you're on the side of, or in the back of a moving Ultra Stamp.

4. Work with your teammates. It's better to be near them than to be a loner, ESPECIALLY in Salmon Run. If you're alone, your more likely to be a target for opposing teams and hordes of Salmon.

5. Inking the walls does not count towards special points. Or inking points. It's better to ink the ground, but if you're going to swim up the wall, go ahead and ink it, and swim up.

꧁SALMON RUN TIPS꧂

1. Drizzlers are the Mary Poppins of Splatoon. They fly with their umbrella. While they are doing so, it is still possible to damage them. So if you have a high damage Drizzler and it starts flying, try your best to follow it and get the last few shots in. Also, when they shoot their Ink Storm thing, if you get the aim just right, you can shoot it back at them for a one-hit.

2. Maws can be instantly killed by putting a bomb where it's going to rise up. When it rises. It will eat the bomb, giving you a one-hit. Be careful on a Fish Stick when they are around though, because maws can climb up those.

Ok that's all I got. Hope it helped!

Two tips you forgot:
1: you can shake your joycon to charge the fizz bomb faster
2: booyah back to increase moral

Thanks for the video Felix, I’ve tried Splatoon 1 & 2 and couldn’t get into it but giving it yet another go with 3 so hopefully these tips come in handy

Another tip for Salmon Run: There's a small King Salmonoid on the right corner when in the lobby, it'll fill up the more you play and once it's full, you'll encounter him. I've yet to beat him, but I know you get fish scale currency to purchase Grizz Co. Equipment or accessories when you launch golden eggs at him. It's a random quantity even if you don't beat him

I think the biggest tip is taking control of the center pretty quick and then inking the spawn once you get splatted and have to respawn. Also, don't settle down too quickly on a weapon, altough I am mainly a roller main, there was moments where I wasn't really feeling it and trying out new weapons was super helpful.
