Thank you so much for this video. I'm a 67 year old female, who was waiting for my lazy son to do this fix for me. He's a duct worker, so he certainly knows his way around tools. I watched your video and did it myself. I sent him a picture of it. He said it looked pretty dang good and asked me how I made the cut. Of course, I told him with a circular saw and a plunging cut, what else? I told him his mother could do anything.

A new homeowner in this exact situation you just relieved a ton of anxiety I had around this. Have a spot that needs to be sorted out and this is perfect.

Great video on how to remove and replace a deck board. One tip is to pre-paint the board on the bottom side and seal the end grain as well as the small 2x4 support piece. It may help the new board to last a bit longer.

Saying this only took you 15 minutes was a big encouragement for me to finally get this done. Thank you for sharing!

Sistering a piece of PT wood to the stud is a great idea, as is sealing the cut ends. (Well, everything you suggested is great, it's those two ideas that I hadn't heard before.) Subscribed.

Thanks for the great advice. I was going to cut the old deck 2x6 in the middle and butt the new board up to it, then would have to use 4 screws to fasten. Your idea is much easier, quicker, and much stronger. Took me less than half an hour to do it, and that includes the time it took for this ol' fellow to find all his tools. Just finished, and perfect job!!!

Great info. The key was screwing a bit of scrap wood next to the stud. Why didn't I think of that!?!?! :)

I used a jig saw after starting the cut with a saw max. I used an osculating saw to cut the remaining board along the nails to expose the support board. I like your idea about nailing a small support board to the underneath part of the deck better. I like the glue idea to preserve the ends. kt

Nice demonstration Steve. Cutting off center and adding a new support sure makes that job easier.

I liked that extension you put on to the stud. That was cool.

Nice. This is helpful. I don't have a truck and only have small issues on 2 boards. I can just get some pieces cut at home depot
