"Happy New Years Everyone! | There appears to be a growing divide in American Evangelicalism. Whether it be the political sphere, cultural sphere, or church sphere, the “middle ground” seems to be rapidly disappearing. Today, pastors are either bold or compromising. So how can a Christian quickly identify whether or not a specific pastor is a coward, before investing years in that local church? My wife and I left a group (I refuse to call them a church) where the pastor avoided the topic of women’s roles and leadership (but would constantly talk about men “stepping up”), mainly because he granted his wife and eldest daughter “authority” over the group. These women would gossip, were contentious, and always justify their wrongdoing. As I became more studious of Gods word and grew to know it more, I realized very quickly how wrong that was and they were severely in error. I spoke out and was called mean, divisive and told I wasn’t being winsome (gag). Pastor told me to be careful and I shouldn’t speak on women.
The straw that broke was when the wife showed up to “lead” the men’s group. I knew that I was done with them at that point and had to get my wife and I out.

Praise God that our family has a pastor who preaches this boldly. Thank you, Pastor Joel!

Pastor Joel l just want you to know that I appreciate your biblical boldness. And the problem is that we have too many pastors that are willing to go along with the cultural narrative because they are afraid of offending people in their congregation.Basically they are more like politicians.

My man! You are absolutely killing it here! I just recently discovered your channel. Thanks you for pointing out the problems and more importantly looking to God for our solutions!

Amen! This is one of the reasons we had to leave our church and find another one recently. It was heartbreaking to do and I'm still working through a lot of sadness over it. But it had to be done.

I have been to at least 10 different churches in the last 20 or so years, and every one of them had cowardly pastors. I called some of them out on their lack of courage. It's always the same 2 excuses, they say they are not cowards, and won't ever admit they are spineless, and evade the issue or they admit they are cowards, and are afraid their church will blow up, and the giving cut off from their congregants. Same pattern every time.

Amen brother! Good word. Here’s to a 2022 that shows real salvation across the nations and for true believers to grow in their walk, and to share the gospel unapologetically!

"Without preaching on sin there is no conviction. Without conviction there is no repentance. Without repentance there can be no salvation." That, sir, blew me away! :) That is the missing linchpin of the vast majority of modern, western Christianity.

Wonderful message to start the year. Man, if I was a pastor and I had congregants who watched your videos... I'd try to up my game. Thank you for seeking a higher standard for the right reason, not that we are glorified, rather, so that God is glorified and the truth is made plain for the lost. The lost don't need accommodating friends, they need truth in love.

This sounds like something Doug Wilson would say. Pastor Joel hits the nail on the head, I love the honesty, MDivs don't come with backbones anymore.

If they aren’t preaching about the persecution of the unvaxxed well doesn’t that say it all. Worse some of them are participating in the persecution.

How to tell if your "pastor" is a coward: If his actions contradict the examples of Biblical Church leaders we read about in God's Word. It's vital that those in the pews live and breath by Scripture, not the culture and their feelings.

Thank you, Pastor Joel. I agree. Pastors are to preach the whole counsel of God. Not just the parts that make us feel good; nor passages removed from their context and twisted to make us feel safe.

Honestly, its easy to be courageous if you truly believe in your cause. I left a church after 40+ years because the preacher lacked courage.

You just hit me upside the head and in my throat with the yoga pants. I wear my workout pants and a hoodie to Walmart every grocery day because I workout after and it’s just easier. I wasn’t intent for any other reason. But thanks for the throat punch 😂
