I made the mistake of getting a used 2012 Nissan rogue two years ago and it was not a great experience. The check engine light came on a few times, it consumed gas like a drunk and I had found out that the transmission was replaced 3 times. I’ve really learned my lesson to not rush and do my research before buying a car

Former car dealer & shop owner. Certain models I would like to deter you from purchasing. These are some of the vehicles I would not sell.
1, Transmission Issues: Chevy Cruz, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge/Chrysler Minivans, Dodge Dart, Nissan Rogue, Sentra (If you don't abuse them, it's OK).
2, Mini Cooper (Issues A to Z).

To be fair, I am an automobile technician and business owner. Yes, I am self employed and understand that a newer car isn't necessarily a better one. In fact, it's the newer vehicles that keep me busy. I personally own 6 vehicles. The longest running ones are: a 2004 GMC Yukon XL SLT, 5.3L/4L60E/2WD with 274, 900 as of today. I also own a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban LT, 8.1L/4L80E/4WD with 224, 700 miles on the clock. BOTH vehicles sport completely original powertrains and show no apparent signs of deterioration. The 8.1L truck does use a little oil (about 1qt every 6K if driven on secondary roads exclusively, 2 quarts if significant highway driving is thrown into the mix.), but that's par for the course as I have observed over the years in both mine and customers trucks.
Lastly, I own a 2001 Acura CL Type S with 323, 000 miles on the original engine, but second transmission to date. I wouldn't trade any of them for the newer offerings, though. They don't seem to be engineered to last beyond 5-7 years without a major failure. It's a shame, really.

Since 2012, we bought 3 different toyota car (2010) Innova, (2017) Fortuner, and (2023) Raize. All this 3 cars we never brought to any mechanic for any repair, aside from regular Preventative Maintenance. Toyota is very reliable. That is why we never change brand 😊

I purchase $2, 000 used cars and they ALL last me 4-5 years. Why anyone thinks spending $40, 000 plus on a brand new shitbox car is anyones guess.

Back in the 90s, I used to listen to the brothers "Click and Clack. Great advice on vehicles. They laughed at people buying Jeeps. I pretty much have stayed away from Jeep.

FYI, the Bronco Sport is NOT a Bronco! It is a unibody CUV never intended for off roading. It's essentially a Ford Escape.

2022 Nissan Rogue SV here with mix use of daily highway commute and part time Uber/Lyft city driving, in over 2 years I racked up 118k km, my engine is strong and peppy like day one and CVT smooth like butter, only thing I replaced was one of three engine mount at 90k to address vibration issues, other than that it’s just oil change every 5k, if this isn’t reliable I don’t know what is, fuel economy is excellent if not best in class for a non hybrid(6.2 ltr/100km multiple times)Car is paid off in 2 years with all that lyft and Uber trips. One very happy Rogue owner here

I had a 2005 Ford Ranger that I drove for over 275, 000 miles. The engine was still strong when I sold it to a young kid who is currently fixing the rust damage on the truck
