Got this same advice when I was a teenager looking for my first car back in the early 60's.

That's why after several months many will offer rebates because most people are afraid of endless recalls and dealerships not honoring the manufacturers recalls ❤😅❤😢❤😂

We can ALWAYS count on you Scotty on new engine/transmissions designs and potential problems and having to work "bugs out."
You have your experience to backup what you show/tell us.
Thanks Scotty. Your opinion really means something.

Learned the hard way with that one Scotty. My mother bought a new for 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ with the 4.7 SOHC V8.

Man was that a mistake because the engine had a Valve Seat Failure, and replaced 2 Transmissions on it also.

So yes!! Do NOT be a guinea pig for the automanufacturers!!

My 2021 ranger is at the dealership now getting the transmission replaced. Googled issues with the 10 speed trans in ford rangers, boy-oh-boy……

The Toyota Matrix was a rebadged Pontiac Vibe built by GM in California. It was the most reliable car Toyota has ever sold in America. Only the old Japanese built Land Cruisers were more reliable.
Newer Toyotas are built in Mexico using cheap Chinese parts. No surprise they require lot's of maintenance and dont last.

The Lexus LS500 also uses a twin-turbo V6. Might even be the same design as the Tundra's. But no unusual engine issues have occurred with the Lexus engine. Meanwhile, the Tundra engine issues are so bad, dealers refuse to accept them for a trade-in. The turbo V6 in the Tundra has been failing due to "metal debris inside the engine and oil causing engine failure."
So what's the difference between the Lexus and the Tundra engines? The Lexus turbo V6 is built in Lexus' plant in Tahara, Japan. The Tundra's engine is made in Huntsville, Alabama.

Scotty, you don’t sound well. Have you been sick?

Car companies should be forced to have their cars tested for a minimum of 5 years before they come out to the market. That way people know exactly what they're getting

Always try to buy the last year of a generation. The kinks are all worked out.

2011 Corolla and pretty much almost problem free but with 230k miles the suspension is shot… still drivable but damn you can feel potholes and cracks on the roads more now. Rather than saving up for new suspension I’m going to get another car either Toyota or Scion … torn about trading this Corolla in because… so many memories 😢

Nice car. Oh and hope you get well soon Scotty. I had scratchiness all last week and still trying to get my lungs to stop rattling due to congestion every time I laugh.

Thanks, Bigman.

Thank you very much.

I know you say, "Toyota " I'm thinking about getting a Nissan patrol, due to my 6, 8" skeleton.

Any advice on this?
