If You Can't Find a Job, Why Not Create One!

Thousands of developers have been laid off and are on the search for new ones. This can take weeks to even months to secure.

But I often wonder why people aren't entertained by the thought of possibly CREATING their OWN job instead of jumping back into the insecurity of another traditional one.

In this video, we'll look at many examples of people who have successfully done this, why now is the best time EVER, and some tips on how to get started.

If you can't find a job, sell them shovels... like advice on what to do when layed off. Survivor bias was shown in this video. For every 1 winner there are 1, 000 losers. The odds aren't good. No impossible just terrible.

I'm almost 45 and had to leave my trade job for personal reasons. With no previous experience, I had decided to get into coding and have 2 weeks of Harvard's CS50x course left to go. Should be done in a week ;) . I wasn't sure what path and end result I wanted to take. I'm glad I came across these videos as I was starting to wonder if this was all a mistake. Especially since starting this course just over a month ago I have fallen in love with coding. My first goal is to get through 100 days of coding everyday and have set myself up to achieve that. Here's hoping that the new tricks this old dog learned will be worthwhile. Love the videos and have subscribed.

Thanks again Travis for yet another amazing video. Because of you and another creator Primeagen, I've decided I'm going to go back to school and get my BSIT degree with WGU and really go into programming once I finish. So thank you for motivating me to be a better provider and wanting to do more for my family.

If people are leaving software for trades its not the sign of a healthy job market.

There are two types of people who comment on these types of videos (not just mine). 1. Those who take this information and do something with it. They look for opportunity, for growth, and advancement in some way. Or they decide it's not for them and move on. 2. Those who see the negative in the things they don't 100% agree with, see this video as an attack or a "scam" and do nothing with it, and thus remain in their problem. These people usually leave comments with the intention of dragging others down with them.

Examples were given in this video to show people are making something out of nothing even. You can take that and run with it or dismiss it. But the opportunity is there. The alternative is to wait around for another employer to call you. I personally don't like to waste time.

I am leaving the freelance art and media industries to build my own worlds... thanks for the supportive video, as always. ✌️❤️

I think everyone needs to hear this not just those in the tech field. Like my grandfather told me after graduation, always find a way to be useful to others and that's what I have been doing through every service offer I get. In addition, do the best you can with every opportunity

Been working on my own projects to bring in at least(I pray) 2k a month into my pockets, and met a fellow solder that is a developer and makes good money on a business he made

That's a risk many can't take, especially people who are running low on money or surviving paycheck to paycheck.

Best advice for developers in 2024. This video should be viral. Thanks Travis for reminding us we have other ways to succeed.

Hes right, although its small, I built an app for a small group that makes $500/month, I can live in thailand off that, at least. Im thankful for that.

It's best not to be negative and have a positive mindset.

Been there tried that with YT for 4-5 years. Been there, tried that in blog photography for 6-7 years. Been, there tried in Wedding photography 6-8. All failed... And now, it seems, that I'm late for programming, because I've started learning last year. And my job is killing me mentally, and due to crappy pay... Oh well, maybe I'm crappy at everything...

I have been learning code since COVID and thousands resumes and no jobs. I started my company I generated this year so far $400K in revenue. It is just me and Co-pilot.

Hey, love this video and represents my exact sentiments on the global market, even beyond software. There are so many opportunities that can be filled by talented people that unfitting recognize their own talent. Even starting off with something small that makes you 1k a months is a great start. Hope people take this advice to heart

Ugh… this has become yet another one of those “tech influencers” channels with low effort “obvious” or unrealistic “advice” that doesn’t help anyone.
