✈️ Airport Security International Travel Tips:
💙 Have ticket and passport easily accessible for multiple pass throughs. In Amsterdam we only had to put our bags through screening once.
💙 I did not have to take out my Dutch cheeses. They were shrink-wrapped. We THINK that is the only way you are allowed to #travelwithcheese
Tip: If in Amsterdam you must taste and buy from @demannenvankaas cheese deli 📍 Spuistraat 330, Amsterdam, Netherlands
💙 I did not have to show my larger bottle of prescription shampoo in Amsterdam or in Houston!
⚠️ TIP: I did tell the Security officer that I had cheese and large shampoo, and she said, "No worries. Leave it in your carry-on bags."
💙 Since we checked in online, the ticketing counter agent told us we did not have to stand in the long line. TIP: Be at the airport 2 hours before boarding time because lines were long. We were 2nd in line and it took 15 minutes to be called forward in ticketing. Your tip about designating a place to put your passport is one of the best tips ever. Even though I have TSA pre-check the rules always differ from airport to airport about what needs to go in the grey bins and whether each item read a separate bin, etc so it makes it easier not having to worry about where to stash my passport.

Overall information regarding food bringing to US:
It is forbidden to import meat and meat products, fish, pastries, cheese, milk, eggs and plant seeds into the US without declaration at customs. You have to declare it. If not, you can run into civil penalty.
I'm international travelling at least from twice to four times a year. Even there is no customs declaration form to fill out at flight, you should give information to officers at border control and customs.

Amsterdam Shiphol has one of the longest security lines in European Union, as well as London Heathrow does. Both are the most frequented airport hubs for direct flights to US.

Schiphol has had a lot of issues with security delays but seems hit and miss whenever it happens. Staff is almost always friendly as well. I may be partial but it is by far my favorite airport.
My mom used to take cheese all the time back to the US, never once had an issue. Enjoy it!

Don't bring fresh cheese (even it's vacuumed) without declaration to US. It's not allowed - if you get controlled by customs (even if you are US citizen), you might get in big trouble. A friend from Las Vegas brought fresh camembert (vacuumed) from France and customs officer controlled him. So, he did get in trouble and maybe due to his older age therefore no further action was made. Cheese was confiscated and littered.

Came back from Turkey via Philly. Had gotten letter from Global entry to interview. Went to line for that. We were next but oh wait! Only one officer does those and he is going on break and won’t be back for 1/2 hr!!! Really!!! Needless to say we didn’t stand there and wait so will have to do an interview on next arrival coming back into country. Very disappointed for this service also my friend had signed up for TSA at same time and has never gotten that. Can’t call anyone about it. Tried and tried

I forgot my pants had snaps on the legs. So I got patted down. I was so conscientious on the way to my destination and exhausted on the way home that I forgot about the snaps. Ohhhh well. I did chuckle when she swooped her hands around my waist. lol
