This is a fantastic survey of Schelling's Naturphilosophie, the video is very well done and clearly goes over all of the main concepts and processes in Schelling's early thought. This is a great thing to have on YouTube Matt. Thank you for all your hard work!

These diagrams are amazing! I’ve been at this for fifty years and you’re the clearest expositor.

With the recent publication of The Schelling Reader, I’m glad to see more interest in Schelling’s work as more than just a transitional philosopher between Fichte and Hegel. He really fleshed out the theories of the absolute with a thoroughness for which he has not received enough credit.

I'm currently working on Joseph Beuys, who must have had a deep understanding of Shelling. This is extremely helpful. And I love your Steinerian/Beuysian blackboards. Thank you!

MS, the more you say about Schelling, the more I want to read his original work, which may never happen, so will continue absorbing your fantastic work about him. It appears he's postulating a dialectic, a process, where "forces/fields" polarize and beget a new force/field. The similarity to Hegel's dialectic is obvious. The questions are - which one is the true originator of this idea - that there is a process playing out over time? Which one published it first? They were about the same age, were roommates for a while, friends - perhaps they came up with it together in their philosophical conversations?

I really like your video's and your ability to visualise this dense material! 😄 I would like to read more from the authors that you describe in you video's, but I don't know which books or articles I should read to better understand their idealism. Do you have any recommendations for books or articles to understand the idealism of Fichte, Schelling and Goethe? Especially with Goethe I find it hard to find books describing his more philosophical and scientific side becouse his poetry is so well known. Thanks! 😁

Opinion on late schelling? Is it reconcillable with his earlier nature philosophy?

Any chance you could explain to me the seeming opposition between sensibility and sensation? Thank you!

Which of Schelling’s sources did you derive this information from? It looks like you were looking down at something to check your work.

What book does Schelling explain this system? Is it in System of Transcendental Idealism? I have the book but I haven't gotten around to reading it.
