In the early 1800s, a philosophical movement arose as a direct reaction to Immanuel Kant’s philosophical system. The movement came to be known as “German idealism.” The German idealists developed a unique philosophical movement that synthesized multiple earlier ideas into an approach to reality that greatly influenced the arts and, by extension, much of human society.
