What do obesity, insulin resistance, diabetes, fatty liver disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, stroke and dementia have in common? They are all chronic diseases that together are the leading cause of death in the world today. And they’re largely caused not by genes, but by our environment, lifestyle and food choices.

This whole talk reached its core take away in 30:30 - 33:00 .. the link between lifestyle, inflammation, our ability to be responsive and not reactive to ourselves and the world around us. If ever there needs to be a motivation to move our lifestyle towards an anti-inflammatory dominant one this is it. That collectively we are living a reactive life that is costing us both our personal, social and global/ environmental outcomes. Thank you Dr. Rangan for the amazing insightful content you bring to the world. If it would be possible please consider time stamping the videos, it would help the content reach more people who might not have enough time to go through the whole talk.

I was a “lunch lady” for 25 years, it is so sad what the government considers “healthy” . Children are becoming fat and unhealthy eating this food. There is so much bread, buns, breaded everything, canned fruit and vegetables, deserts, etc..
These kids are being poisoned! Things need to change now.

I’ve listen to your podcasts for a few years now, and this is the most comprehensive and powerful interview yet. Bravo!.
(Note: I would prefer that this brilliant interview weren’t interrupted midway with the product promotion because I was so focused on Dr. Perlmutter’s words. I think that handling promotions at the beginning or end only would be more effective because the listener would be more receptive to it).

Thank you sooo much doctors, I am 72 and disbetic. I am so thankful that in 2009 a nurse practitioner sat down and took the time to go over my blood work, he said most doctors would of told me my bloodwork is good, but he said your blood sugar is higher than it should be for my age. He ordered me a monotor and strips, I started keeping an eye on my sugar, and over time worked on my diet. I do keep a close eye on my sugar levels, that sugar craving is hard, and most of the time I listen to the adult in the room.😊 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP, I WILL WATCH THIS AGAIN AND IM LEARNING TO MAKE BETTER DECISIONS FOR MY LIFE
HOPE MANY MORE DO
❤❤

We live in a retirement community that encompasses all the levels of senior living up to death. How I wish all the residents and management could watch your podcasts and most especially this one.

25 minutes in and he now says don’t eat actual table sugar. Don’t eat high fructose corn syrup. Don’t eat processed foods. Avoid refined carbs. He hasn’t yet said “don’t eat fruit.” It’s what everybody is saying. Eat Real Food.

"Normal range" blood test results. When I visit my doctor and we discuss blood test results, he is exactly as you described. If it's just making it into the normal range, he is very dismissive of it. My thoughts for years have been how does this make sense? For example, 5.99 is normal but 6 you're sick? Or a normal range of 13 to 65 level of a mineral and your level is 14...it's normal but you still feel like crap. Thank you both for such an interesting and informative podcast.

Eat whole fruits, eat whole veg, eat real meat. Say away from GMOs - seems simple, but until those in power drum this into people - most will take advice very lightly

Great interview - I would like to hear you interview Cyrus Khambatta, PhD and Robby Barbaro MPH who are the team behind Mastering Diabetes by advocating a high carbohydrate low fat diet which is polar opposite to traditional advice

Love your channel Dr. Chatterdee. This interview was my favorite so far. Dr. Perlmutter explains the effects of food on our bodies for the layman so well. Thank you.
