That's what people don't realize. If it does suddenly collapse, there really isn't anything you can do about it. Sure, you can buy water and bullets, and grow some vegetables, buy yourself some time, but in the end 95% of the population would be in real trouble in three months. What is more likely to happen is a slow 100 year decline, in your standard of living, where everyone is miserable and more miserable. Choices will have to be made because tradition has become to expensive. This has already begun.

If you listen to Dave for any extended period of time you'll know he's pretty much clueless on macroeconomic topics. His ideological beliefs don't really allow him to evaluate all the relevant information even if he wanted to. But his sliver of truth that you can't really do much about it regardless of what happens is also true.
