Canon 6D Mark II Hands-On and Opinion

Is there more to the 6D Mark II than the common opinion says? Let's explore the camera and see! I had hands-on time with the camera at my local camera shop and made this video about it. I do see a situation or two that this camera is literally the only currently available option (as of the making of this video). At the time of release this was the only full-frame camera with a fully articulating screen that could face the lens. Now here are other options.

I DON'T SHOOT VIDEO...
That said, the major failings as a still camera for me are (not necessarily in this order)
1. The grouping of the focus points in the center of the frame. This is really the reason I will probably dump my 6D2 sometime in the near future. You cannot frame a vertical head and shoulders portrait and put a focus point on subject's eye. Focus and recompose difficult with Canon 85mm f/1.2L lens. This is an inexcusable failing!!!
2. 1/180 second maximum sync speed sucks if you are a flash user...
3. 1/4, 000 second shutter - 1/8, 000 would be a lot better shooting flash in bright sun...
4. USB-2 instead of USB-3 or later USB connection - can't use many of the Tether Tools USB cables...
5. Single memory card slot - if you have ever had a card or a memory slot go bad; you will know why I list this. If you have never had either go bad, just wait a while - you will experience that problem...
6. Crappy dynamic range...
Now WHAT I WOULD LIKE
1. Voice recording snippet that is attached like a sidecar to image to take down details and information...
I am going for a Sony A7iii UNLESS the Canon 7Diii really shows me something when it comes out. I am not so terribly enamoured with full frame...
2. ISO 25 capability or built-in ND filter...

It is an entry level FF, and this is your opinion, I have used it and checked the sensor.

If the price was close to the 80D, i'd buy it but it's too expensive for the features it offers. The dynamic range is the same as the 5D mark 2 which is an old camera by today's standards.

What lens were you using with it - I want one for video only - like you I own a D750 for my stills

1080 60 fps is not ideal these days? Lol? And what is? 4k? Barely anyone uses it.
