Canon EOS 6D MkII - Hands On in Southsea

Pete and Adrian met with Dave Parry in Southsea to test out some of the features found in the new EOS 6D MkII, Canon's entry Full Frame DSLR. From 6.5fps to 40,000 ISO we took the Beta models to some different shooting locations.

This camera is probably a great stills camera for those who want a first time full frame camera unfortunately it has only one SD card slot and no headphone jack. At least on the Canon 80D you got a headphone jack and that is a crop sensor camera. To be honest I would rather buy the Nikon D750 as my stills camera as it has two SD card slots. Granted Canon are great at what they do but they have missed a few steps here and there over the past two years.

Canon, come back with :
10 bit
4:2:2
Ai servo in high fps mode
A modern codec

And forget that crop so I may buy again for now GH5 and metabones.

I dont mind the lack of 4k, I just want a good quality 1080p, the videos I've seen so far from this new 6D looks like a 720p upscaled, really awful. As we all know this is a pre-production camera, so I hope the retail version has at least the same video quality of the 80D.

Canon should have put un cropped 4K in both the Canon 80D and the Canon 6D mark 2, with good codec.
Real shame. Granted though I am more than likely to buy the Canon 80D up date if they put in two SD cards and 4K.

Also it would be nice off Canon to have thought off the customers who are unable to afford any off their film cameras weather it be low end or the high end cameras which do film within there company.

We are so spoiled. This camera does everything that it’s capable of very well. Yet still not good enough. Definitely a millennial point of view.
