Should you Buy Far Cry 5 in 2021? (Review)

It's been called a masterpiece and it has been called an utter piece of garbage so I decided to replay far cry 5 again and give my thoughts and opinions and let you know if the game is still worth your money in 2020. In my opinion Far Cry 5 is a really good open world game.

I disagree with you about the world. All three regions had something different going on with them. John's was more farm like and Jacob's was more in the mountains. The design of the regions felt great to play and look at. I would say the gameplay was great.

Should you buy Far Cry 5 in 2020? Short answer: yes! I even bought Far Cry: New Dawn because I loved the storyline from 5 so much!

The worst thing about 5 was the forced story progression. You can't just run around blowing up shit without forcing the story forward. Bad move. The second was the multiple kidnappings. Just stupid getting shot by an arrow flying a helicopter.

I love Far Cry 5. Yes, the forced kidnappings get annoying and I hate the trippy missions in ANY of the Far Cry games, but the Father character is drawn and acted extremely well (I also liked Pagan Min in 4, but we didn't actually interact with him much. Vaas was just a mad bully in 3). I liked the variety of vehicles, weapons, Fangs for Hire and also that I did't have to climb endless radio towers. Interesting to see the correlation between that world and the state of the USA today.

The flawed Seed family gives an impetus to defeating them all. I actually never took John and Jacob's bunkers, after their deaths, just so that I could still have cultists in their map areas for random encounters when I dive back in to run around in.
I enjoyed it so much that I bought New Dawn . I usually go back to certain games that I have great fun with, and these are some of those games.

Just buy it when on sale and enjoy it for what it is. Fun!

Far Cry 5 is the reason I fell in love with the series so hard went back to play 3, 4 and Primal. As I truly loved the story and felt i was really being hunted by the peggys till I as a Rookie can become superior after learning skills which adds character to the progression. I personally liked the no talking as it gave me more immersion in my imagination to fill in the spots to talk as the character. Every mission felt heart felt towards something different keeping me exploring. I love all the Far Crys for different reasons. After playing all of em I am just grateful for the different environments for what can be admitted to be evolutionary to gameplay in the future. Whether people like to admit it or not, Farcry inspired alot of what games use today whether it be taking over a base, enemy tagging or just flat giving the player options on how to approach missions. As the series grows that's where I see it get better the most is the level designs. I believe New Dawn was just a mix up to keep people going til FC 6 as well as conclude an underrated story. FC5 got me to believe in a great game giving me laughs and high tension moments in one package.

I've paid $6 for this game a couple of months ago and finished it yesterday. The thing that bothered me the most was being captured. Finishing a Clutch Nixon mission and getting captured right after was kinda frustrating.

Something that would of improved the game was making the resistance meter a little slower. For example, some missions give you 900 RP and outposts give you 400 RP. You can easily liberate a region in one sitting if you just focus on resistance missions. It really takes away the impact of characters and makes the story feel very rushed. By making resistance missions less heavily weighed, you could enjoy more time exploring the open world.

In my opinion, the best way to experience the story was starting with Jacob, then Faith and John as the last one. As it felt that John had left the most impact on Joseph when he died. Jacob was the eldest, the protector- Faith was whatever, John was the little brother to Joseph and seeing him go apeshit over the loss and hearing how sweet he was before what happened. That was good in terms of story imo

Also it felt nice how John in terms of his region was the only one holding things together, collecting supplies. Jacob and Faith being in charge of bliss and the infantry and John being the one who, after the demise of the other siblings, tried collecting as much as he could before closing everyone off at the bunker.

This was my first far cry game and still play it a little, excellent game. Didnt put as much time into new Dawn but still enjoyed it for what it was.

I feel like what he says about the world just makes me want to puke. he sound such like a city boy oh there’s only just a bunch of forests or fields or mountains yeah that’s the best part the mountains are beautiful and strong forests are perfect and kind of just cool to run around hunting bears and the fields are just a nice southing touch to the world I really don’t understand why you hate on this world so much it’s probably my favourite part and it’s the thing that makes me defend far cry 5 the most.

The answer is YES. Bought this game when it came out and am still playing it in one fashion or another. Valid points about some things (story and characters, especially) but still an amazing -- and amazingly FUN -- game.
