The game doesn’t take place after frontiers. It takes place during the events of sonic generations, they just mention how levels like sunset heights and chaos island are from the future. Also the sonic X shadow generations dark beginnings animation proves that the game takes place during generations because the animation which is how the game starts takes place before Sonics birthday in sonic generations

Sonic x Shadow Generations is a remake of Sonic Generations, which happens right after Sonic Colors/Sonic Colors Ultimate. The reason we have Sunset Heights and other stages from newer games is because Sonic x Shadow Generations is a time travel game, meaning we go to the past, and future. Hope this helps!

This game doesn’t take place after Frontiers and Forces, not only it says that this takes place during Sonic Generations, but the anime prologue and game confirms it does too, the Sonic and Shadow Rival fight happened. 💀

The casting for current Sonic games has been very hit or miss, and new Mephiles is very miss. If they used someone already in the game, they could have used Dave B. Mitchell. His Raiden voice would be perfect instead of Robbie Daymond's performance.
