100k was the deal.. there are about 12 games maybe an extra bowl game, and that is it unless you happen to hit the playoffs, which would probably be just the one game anyway if you did at UNLV.. so how much should this kid be getting of that 100k per game.. well if we take that 100k and divide it up by either 12 or 13, we would be looking at about 8k per game.. if he has played 3 games and has only gotten 3k.. that is not even close to what they should have been giving him.. to me it looks more like, you are not going to be getting the majority of that 100k promised.. and so I do not blame the kid, his deciding to red shirt is simply him saying, I will take the red shirt this year, go find another team to play for next year who will HONOR their NIL commitment to me.. because clearly UNLV does not appear to be honoring their agreement with this kid, who is doing his part in winning for the team.. the amount of money this kid is getting in comparison to what the school is making off of him is abysmal.. Shame on you UNLV..

I feel like UNLV really screwed themselves as far as recruiting in the future with this one. What new talent is gonna want to go to a school with this kind of record of not paying their athletes?? 💯💯

As a long suffering UNLV fan we're used to 3 win seasons (in a good year) so this is just another day in Rebel land. A least we were ranked on one poll for the first time in school history so this season has already exceeded expectations.

It appears he is sitting out the rest of the year and moving to another school next year. Not every player is gonna make it to nfl, so this was a business move to maximize his value now. 100, 000 is a considerable amount of money and not something to promise to an individual.

Verbal agreements are enforceable under contract law. If the OC is deposed and admits that he guaranteed the money, that's pretty strong legal justification.

NCAA sticking their heads in the sand and ignoring reality has made this whole situation a mess.
If they had not been so resistant to evolution, they could have stayed in control and made a framework for how this should happen.
So many obvious guidelines they could've put in place.
Put a cap on the coaches' salaries and limit when/how they can leave schools.
Then use that same model to justify why restrictions will also be placed on NIL and the transfer portal for the players.

Sluka has a career completion rate below 60% in 4 years plus 3 games. He was finally having some success with UNLV and threw it away in protest. NFL teams will view him as a quitter and worse, an activist. Sluka will not be drafted. It is highly unlikely he will get a camp invite.
