I went to Bhutan and my experiences were different. Probably it's because I'm an Indian citizen and we don't even need passport or visa for traveling there, only an id card. As a matter of fact, we actually paid using Indian currency there.

I think the host is rating Bhutan as a strange place coz of the $250 fee the country imposes on foreign tourists. The thing is Bhutan is a tiny country and the only way to preserve their culture from the hippie and drug travellers that have overtaken Nepal and much of SEA, is by making it unaffordable to this strata.

Djibouti people are probably hostile by foreign people due to the fact that, like you said, have a lot of foreign military bases in their country which I can imagine makes them uncomfortable to the point of being irritable. Would you like it if another country just took up space in your home?

Bro i live very near to bhutan, the country is one of the best for someone who loves visiting nature. Almost 71% of bhutan is forest and the country is very clean. There are a lot of tourist destinations.

Fun fact: If you are Indian or Bangladeshi, you don't have to pay the tourist tax in Bhutan.
