Turkmenistan is a place that has always fascinated me. After squaring away my visa, I boarded the flight to this interesting country. It is a trip unlike any that I have ever taken

Turkmenistan is NOT as bad as North Korea. For one, there is a LOT of immigration out of the country, meaning citizens _are_ allowed to leave. Its difficult to go through the airport but you can bribe just about anybody. People i know have all left because of the lack of employment or to improve their life quality, no one i know has actually *escaped* the country, most just up and leave. They even return every few years to refresh their passport and visa. I even know people saving money so they can go back and build a house there. I doubt a North Korean citizen would ever go back. They are one of the Turic countries invaded and assimilated by Russia. Their surnames were changed and their graves were destroyed. Now they live under soviet dictatorship but not nearly as bad as North Korea. Also they have free gas but thats really irrelevant if you live under a severe dictatorship. They also do have internet and can access apps illegally, social media is very popular. Anyway its really sad that the citizens have to immigrate and the regime is horrible, also completely a result of ww1 and ww2. Just wanted to give some info.

This seems like the country equivalent of scrubbing the living room when company is coming over...except you just shoved the mess behind closed doors.

I have watched a few vids on Turkmenistan, and I liked yours the best. You made what could have been a boring guided tour into something quite interesting.

I met a Turkmeni couple on a Aeroflot flight to Moscow
They were very nice and they showed me pictures of their house.

Why did you not once in this video ask why it’s so empty everywhere? That seems a pretty fundamental question.

Guide is almost certainly an intelligence agent.

Hi Jordan. As weird and strange as this country was, it was quite pretty as well. The monuments were really cool. The tour guide Tim spoke perfect English. It was strange not to see people anywhere. Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you Jordan for sharing and taking me along. I appreciate all you do for this amazing channel

That city was the most sad place I've ever seen. Imagine creating that emptiness on purpose.

You can drive a car that isn't white, but only in the villages.
You can play videogames anytime.
Dogs are only banned from the Capital City. (You obviously don't want a 100-Pound Central Asian Shephard roaming around a nice and soft city.)
You have WiFi there, and Social Media is accessed only through VPN.
When I went there 4 months ago, it was not empty LOL.
Many cars everywhere. I'm not sure if it was only because it was Winter Season.
I am personally Ethnic-Turkmen myself. Though I do not live there. 🇹🇲

Hey Jordan so cool I saw Josh do a video on this country. However he didn’t tour it at all it was a flight review in and out. You really gave us a journey regardless if it’s what they wanted you to see. They should be proud of the work you do in giving this very unknown country a positive view. Glad you went for us as I’d never go even as a former charter/schedule flight attendant. Well maybe if I was still your age and the company was paying for it 😂 Great review 👍

Might be beautiful
But if you don't see people, it's creepy
