the interconnected support of mythical, smosh, try guys, and dropout is refreshing to hear in relation to an industry as infamously and historically cutthroat as entertainment.

It’s honestly very refreshing to hear creators acknowledge the USER experience on YouTube has gotten much worse over the years, not just the changes that affect creators, you can tell they really care about the quality of the content they’re sending out to their audience and how we feel as subscribers

I didn't think I could still be pissed off at that one guy but to know how much it affected not only the 3 other Try Guys but also their company opportunities and the lives of their staff, it makes me angry all over again.

fun fact about the snl sketch they mentioned, someone looked into it and it turns out one of the writers who was a part of it is actually a friend of ned's and went to school with him at yale. so if you were wondering why they went for such a reductive take on the situation and mocked the try guys' response, that's why.

edit to correct the name of the school, i mixed up two ivy leagues by mistake!

The way they articulated how YouTube prioritizes themselves over all else was actually so clarifying. I never really thought about how brutal it is for existing channels.

I'm happy for Keith and Zach, but I HAVE to applaud Zach, he sounds like he matured so much and almost sounds like the boss of the Try Guys. No offense to keith, but Zach was portrayed as the frail one and "childish" for a couple years before The Event. And when The Event happened, Keith did say that Zach stood up and took a huge burden and manage to make everything okay at the end of the day. And now he sounds like a leader. And I'm confident Keith is being just as active in leading the company, but I gotta say, Zach, you're rocking it!!

Ned's betrayal was insane. He risked the livelihoods of so many. I can't imagine how it felt for them. I still can't believe people defend him and want him back. he took down his "apology." And to have people make fun of them for handling it maturely was ridiculous.

Ned's college friend wrote the SNL sketch which says everything. hearing them talk about it is heartbreaking.

Can we talk about how professionally Zach talks. Like in my brain he is silly corndiddy but I've realised how professional he is and how well he explains himself.

I had no idea Ned caused this much of an issue. Like you wouldn’t think it would have mattered that much. It was “just an affair.” But the fact that these guys lost MILLIONS of dollars is absolutely fucking insane. Ned could have literally RUINED these guys, and it seems like he has next to zero shame about it. That's borderline sociopathic.

Anthony looks like a young dad in the 70s on his way to a weekend tennis match 👨🏻🎾🏌🏻

per the last trypod episode, the new euphemism for The Event is "donuts": "when the donut shop caught fire ..." "well the donut had shit in it!"

the try guys must’ve been shaking when the watcher stuff went down and everyone started begging them not to do the same before they even announced second try tv 😂😂

30:46 “is labor supposed to feel this good?” baby that’s a pain kink.

The way that Ned put not only his own family, but his friends and employees in jeopardy is so telling of his character and values. Looking back, his inauthenticity is so obvious - but in the moment, it’s wild how actively he convinced us he was a family man with a high moral compass. I have LOVED this new era without him, and I am so
impressed with the way the rest of the team handled the situation as a whole.

This era of Smosh, 2nd Try and Dropout all collaborating with cast members showing up on each other’s platforms is SO fun to follow! Excited to see what comes next 🤠

Call me simple, but I really love it when men do labor simulation.

Can I just say it is so impressive how the Second Try streaming transition has been marketed and presented by the Try team. Within a few days they released the announcement video, then Eugene’s goodbye, then their own podcast going more in detail on the change and now also an interview about it on another big channel.

And throughout it all the message has been the same- this is a positive change, we will be on YouTube still but because of advertisers and The Algorithm YouTube is not a feasible streaming service for our company anymore. With just the announcement video I was thinking cool sure good for you, not sure why you need it when influencers make so much money. But now with these additional videos I really understand why it’s really hard to run a long term successful company with YouTube as the main content platform and I am fully supportive of them. And saying we’re now treating YouTube as a marketing platform like instagram as opposed to a content host platform is such a good take.

Plus packaging it with announcing a massive official cast expansion- such a smart PR move. Pair the scary change with a fun change, and it really sells how their streaming platform will actually be “bigger and better” than the old Try Guys.

Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but I’m sure the Watcher team is jealous they didn’t slow down and really figure out how to present essentially what will become the same thing…

Man, for most SNL sketches, “mocked” would be a word I’d never use. But, this sketch is certainly an exception. The lack of empathy, humor, and tone-deafness that this sketch had truly showed how ‘out-of-touch’ the people who made that sketch were.
Mockery, cruel mockery at that, is certainly a phrase I’d use to explain how they handled that situation.
