This is really interesting, but it's not that easy for a 50 years old. I have some cash to invest in equity/stock. I want to make no mistakes while adding a few companies to my present holding over a long term.

I am 55 years old with very little set aside for retirement at this point. I have always been curious about the stock market and have witnessed some people who played the game right and retired early because they used the stock market. When I ask them, most said that they invested very little to start with, but their portfolio grew. I think there is one more, OPIUM not the drug but OPM Other People's Money. Did almost 50 years ago. Wife and I were flipping properties before concept became popular. Buy a rental property, borrow the down payment, get a mortgage. Rent pays expenses. Get 100%+ return on investment when flipped after holding period. Not easy but very profitable when done correctly. There is a place where one can go to learn Sweat Equity. You went and I went to the School. It's called the US. Military. I went into the Navy and learned Sweat Equity. You went into the Army and learned Sweat Equity. US Military still produces the greatest leaders in the world.

I'm moving money out of South Africa just in case. Many companies losing big due to rolling blackouts across the country. The country has been getting worse and worse in many areas and could land up similar to Zim, where it never recovers. I think a good tell is whether international companies are pulling out.
