the claws are part of the zero point energy field manipulator or zpefm. the zpefm allows you to pick up objects while holding the device, and helps you pick up heavy objects too. the gravity gun, which is not the portal device, is a way more powerfull zpefm. I learned that the hard way.

I have no idea I'm no expert. I have ordered things from amazon in the past and it hadn't arrived for like a month or so but when I looked at the receipt for this particular item, it was shipped from Germany so yea anything can happen :)

The claws are for 2 reasons 1: to bring the portal plasma to its destination 2 as the same use to dring heavy objects to carry

I think it is. If your an absolute die hard fan of Portal you have to get the life sized model of the gun :)
