Hey, I got a weird moaning noise while turning the wheel parking the other day and when I looked under the car the boot has come off on the outer end of the rack and fluid everywhere. If the boot is undamaged can I reseal it or is the rack goosed?

Is it supposed to be stiff and not move if there’s nothing wrong with it? I’m trying to figure out if any of the steering components are bad. When I turn the wheel going slow in the parking lot you can hear a clucking sound.

I just took my 2010 Subaru Forester into dealership and they told me my power steering rack had to be replaced because it was rusty and leaking. They said it would cost $1, 400. Is that too high a price? Should I go elsewhere to have it looked at. that seems really high to me.

I just bought a 2020 Impreza in January I've been back to the Subaru place five times since then on the certified vehicles and this last time I went in is because I heard that same noise from my steering wheel when I'm stationary and they said it was the power steering rack and it still makes that same noise after subaru replaced it. what else could it be
