Thanks Matt for the review, you've got me that interested in these type of antennas I'm going to have a go at building one myself now. Look forward to the next one 73

Hi Matt, I’m a new M7 and love your videos you say it how it is, and have made me realise I’m not the only person who continually thinks how can improve and what if I tried this. Please keep up good work and posting 73s

Did you find the receive noise any less after you moved the 49:1 transformer from near the house to the bottom of the garden?

Great video by the way.

Thanks

Nice video many thanks. I am considering getting this antenna myself. Can I ask why you didn't put the 49/1 transformer end near the house/shack so you only have a short run of coax? Also have you considered adding an earth rod, I know it isn't needed strictly for this antenna type, but I read it can help bring down the SWR. (M7RBY)

Looking at this antenna it looks the biz and loving the reviews from people and all the good things being said about it. This vid really made my mind up for me as I see it works well on your IC 7300 so I am 100% sold. Currently have a IC 718 which I am going to use for just portable once I get the IC 7300. Thanks for posting this vid, really great to see it in action. 73 de M7LTG. have a great Christmas.

Do the 90 degree corners in your antenna impact performance ?

What is the purpose of the choke ? Is that to stop any spurious interference?

How long are your fence posts, maybe worth moving the the box up the pole just above the post.

Hi Matt,
I have the same situation here. With the new ofcom regs coming in have moved my feedpoint to 5m above ground and antenna goes up to 8m then back down to 4.5.
I have a footpath up the side and across the back so preparing for ghe future. I installed a 1:1 choke balun near feedpoint to reduce any rf on the coax outer, choking between 40 and 60 db. Will let you know when I am finished. Steve M0IJW

Nice video, was thinking of doing similiar temp efhw along fence until I can some more permanent support structures installed.

Would there be a benefit to using insulators between the wire and the wooen fence? Screw in insulators for electric fence are just a few dollars a bag of 25 here. Primarily will be using to recieve on my sdrplay for now
