The Best TV Antenna Signal Amplifiers from an Installer

In this video I list the best antenna preamplifiers (aka signal amplifiers, signal boosters, ect) if you use an antenna for over the air TV. Keep in mind that preamps only make up for signal loss in a long coaxial cable. They won't magically bring in new channels that don't hit the antenna in the first place. Not everyone needs a preamp as setting one up in a strong signal area can lead to overload.

This man knows what he is talking about. He helped me select the equipment and proper installation of it, , that allowed us to go from 1 available TV channel, , to 18 channels!! My country get away is the best now! Thanks Tyler, if you ever get to Southeast Texas... I 'll have a steak on the grill and ice cold beer waiting for you.

My folks live on the edge of their OTA market. Their antenna worked fine until stations started migrating to ATSC 3.0. Saw your videos on ATSC 3.0 and preamps. Installed a Televes 560383 single input. Totally worth it. They get all the original channels now, and even a few from a neighboring market. Thanks for the info and posting your videos!

The small Televes antenna with a built-in preamp I got for my mother works great. She lives on top of a hill and the TV towers are 40 miles away and the reception is awesome. She had been using one of the flat indoor pieces of junk for years until we had her roof replaced which included a metallic underlayment that killed the reception. She is very happy with her new antenna and getting more channels now. Thanks Tyler.

Just installed the $85 Televes pre amp and finally success bringing Philly channels in for my Bethlehem zip code 18017! After trying three differential antenna going bigger each time and limited success, so many trips up & down the ladder. Moved here 4 years ago and finally I can watch channels 3-6-10, NBC, ABC, CBS, 17, FOX, 29. Finally with help of Antenna Man I no longer can blame the nearby mountain for casting for a twilight zone when it came to receiving TV reception. 😊❤

An amp totally overwhelmed my receiver. More does not always mean better. Thank you for doing this video.

I had a flat square window antenna that never really worked, so after hearing you educate about the horizontal antenna element to get VHF channels, I folded a 2.5 ft. sheet of tinfoil into a narrow stick and taped across the back of the cheap antenna. Now I get ALL the channels including CBS-2 in Chicago which had always been impossible. I live in 3rd flr apt 18 mi from (and with window facing) the broadcast tower downtown. Thanks Antenna Man - my cable bill dropped from $125 to $25 for internet only (Roku)

I bought the Channel Master dual gain model a couple of years ago and it has been a solid build. I believe I’m running it on the high gain and haven’t had any issues. The only down side (if there is one) is that it tends to be harder to purchase because even when I bought it was frequently out of stock.

I got the dual Televes pre-amp and gotta say I love it. To avoid interference from both antenna I made sure they are separated by 5' on the pole with exactly same cable length from the pre-amp to both antenna. And making sure the lower antenna on the pole points to the closest market.

Live abut 8 miles from the towers-preamp causes distortion (in my case)-I use a distribution amp to feed my Tivo, HD Homerun and TV. As always, you have a very informative video.

Televes preamps have automatic gain control. This feature sets it apart from the rest. It won't kill strong signals to get weak ones. I have one on a High VHF antenna and one on a separate UHF antenna. Work perfectly.

I have a junk antenna pre-amp, and I’m thinking of replacing it. Great video, Tyler!

I've been using the Channel Master Amplify since 2017 and its been great on low it adds just enough gain to get all the channels in my area. I'm about 46-48 miles west of Phily in the NJ Pine Barrens with lots of tall pine trees.

As someone who installed cable for 15 years Tyler really know his stuff. I lived near a mountain in Arizona a lot people in this one particular community would complain about poor signal for this one local channel and yet the antenna for this channel was less than 1/2 a mile away. The reason the signal was bad in this community was similar to someone with a microphone standing to close to the speaker causing feed back.. TV signal does the same thing. And just so you know WIFi can do the same also. So buy adding a TV amplifier can also cause problems. Think about what happens when you crank up the Amp when your listening to Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant’s voice in now causing your ears to bleed even more than they were before. The signal distorts and doesn’t improve the sound. Same applies to TV and wifi signal. 😂 Hope this analogy is appreciated. Thanks for all you do Tyler I have learn’t an incredible amount from your channel.

I have a longrange Telves antenna & the Telves preamp shown. Routinely receive signals from 87 miles with exact pin point alignment on a 20 foot pole which is the tallest allowed here. Best is that there are also within 30 & 40 miles strong signals which are not effected.
I highly recommend Telves antenna's which are well manufactured & the Telves pre-amp. I live in a flat area huge amount of trees & with the earth curvature receiving these signals during the afternoon was once an impossible dream but since installation normal with only very occasional weather caused outages from the weakest stations.

I'm so glad you where up front in what an amp won't do. Thank you for that.

Thanks A.M.
You helped me select an aerial a few years back. Its been great as i Pointed it directly at the station antenna i watch the most. Other channels come in fine, but have always had pixelation on a few channels we view on occasion (SUN & MNF).
I'm hoping this pre amp will fix the issue.

spot on. I have the Televes pre-amp running the antenna to my den TV, and the RCA running to the Flex 4K in the upstairs guest room. both are working great. I always judged my pre-amps by how many channels they would pull in connected to an antenna off my deck mounted on a PVC pipe. The Televez won hands down. I liked Antenna Direct's JUICE pre-amp as well. During my trials, I ended up dropping it one time too many and it quit working.

I added the RCA one you mentioned first to my GE Pro Yagi Directional antenna setup. I didn't even take the antenna down to add it and instead spliced it in about 15-20 feet down from the antenna and I picked up 3 more channels one of them being the Movies! channel which is sweet. I also don't have as many issues with other channels. I will most likely move it to be closer to the antenna this spring when it's nice and warm if I feel like I need to.

I recently replaced my 40 year old giant Channel Master Ch 2-69 antenna with the two best UHF and Hi band VHF antennas I could find. I also purchased the latest Kitz Technologies dual input preamp and am very satisfied with the setup. Kitz is a small company probably catering to TV DXers but their prices are competitive. The noise figure of the preamp is very low (good). Your viewers should know of this choice too.
