In this video, I review the the WaveMax indoor TV antenna. It's being heavily advertised online and possibly even my YouTube channel with the claim that it gives you access to over 100 free HD channels. Does it really work or is it a scam?

Any antenna company that advertises cable channels is completely bogus

Antenna Man.. I am old school amateur radio enthusiast. I had my first hand experience helping my father out installing our off air antenna on the roof of the building and always remembered dropping down the 300 ohm cable from the roof. Many ways the way we watch television has changed since then but the basics of radio reception have remained the same. Thank you for being that person who keeps many of the uninformed people of this and future generations informed of the basics of television reception and the crucial roles the off air antennas play. Godspeed to you and your YouTube station.

😂 The ad for it literally played after I watched the video.

Yep, the ad showed up just before your video. Checked and they are from Lithuania. Well ain't that special.

Amazon antennas should be banned by the FTC, and Amazon should be heavily fined for allowing those bogus claims.

Yep, my neighbor bought one of them called me over to see why it wasn't working right. I had to kindly tell him he had it hooked up incorrectly and in the wrong room. It only goes in the kitchen on the countertop with the coax end screwed into the plastic garbage can. I gave him one of my old spare "non HD" antennas which work 20 times better.

Thanks for keeping us on the over-the-air-TV road. My third indoor-antenna try was recommended by you and it is amazing!

I use a mohu "65 mile" flat window antenna connected to a tablo 4 on second floor of my home and get 150 strong channels of which 109 are unique or worth watching occasionally and that is in the suburbs of Atlanta (about 22 miles away). When the antenna was on the ground floor, I got around 50 channels with several suffering from interference with frequent drop outs. I think I bought it on sale at Best Buys for under $40, but I also upgraded the RJ6 cable to a longer one and white to be less noticeable. Antenna placement was critical along with good unobstructed line if sight to the towers. Spent a lot of time just finding the sweet spot in the house. Once done, it's been solid for over a year.

Thanks Tyler, these worthless antennas need to be called out. I've built a couple of Gray-Hoverman antennas (one for me and one for my aunt) just to see if I could. They worked a lot better than the flat panel antennas from a big box store. I recently picked up a GE Crystal antenna at an estate auction for $5, new in the box. I played around with it one night, just by propping it up in a first floor window, and was amazed at how well it worked. It has a built in amp, so no idea how long it will work, but it picked up all 17 of my local channels very strongly. The kicker was, I got 4 very weak channels from 100 miles away that I wasn't expecting to see when the scan was done. Granted, it's very flat in that direction, but still...2 of the 4 weren't there the next day when the sun came up, but I'm still impressed with the little GE. I'll keep it for a back-up.

I'm glad I learned from you to stay away from junk . I'm very happy with my Televis one that looks like a duck where I live in Toronto.

I'd like to see more tests on plug-N-play antenna setups that include everything, antenna, cables, filters, etc.
