First pair of Levi's i ever bought was in 1969. £3-75p (Three pound fifteen shilling in those days) Could only afford one pair at a time. The Levi denim jacket cost £5-00. That was more body fitting than the present day ones. Ultimate cool was wearing the jeans faded and a practically new jacket. I'm 70 years old now, bet i could still get away with that.✌🏻😃

Just bought 5 pairs 501's and all original out of levi's store and checked them after this video and they 're real. Thanks for the info.👍👍

I have seen a half dozen real/fake Levi's videos on YouTube. This is the first one that isn't BS.

It doesn't really matter anymore. Real Levi's are the same quality as the fake ones, these days. I still have Levi's from when I was a kid that are still in great shape, but newer Levi's only last me roughly a year, even though they're being put through less stress than the ones I wore as a kid. Somewhere along the line Levi's lost their way.

Didn’t even know there were counterfeits out there for Levi’s. Really good info. Thanks Steve!

I get my Levi’s at thrift stores like value village, goodwill, Plato’s closet. I also live in Canada and I’m amazed how they are all real and I get them for 17-25 cad. I never really check until today

Thank you . With this very informative video you made here, i just checked the levi i bought at sams Club. The stamp is very light on the metal, not a match, fakes, also the material is made from a stretching type of material. levi has been one of my only blue jeans to wear. 25 washes and done on new pairs.

I know my jeans are 35+ years, been in my moms attic for 35+ years. The only thing they have missing is a worn stamp on inside button. These Levis were worn in the early 8o’s. Am I out of luck because of this worn button stamp?

See I’m glad I figured out that some pairs have the more papery label and some have the thick leather ones. I just bought two pairs and the cheaper pair had the papery one so I freaked out and thought they were fake.

I have worn Levi's for YEARS and had no idea there were counterfeits. Right now I only have two pairs ... I own LOTS of jeans but sadly only two are Levi's. Looks like one pair is for real and the other pair may or may not be. The second pair is actually jean leggings so I'm not sure they count anyway. Either way I like 'em, but I REALLY like my other genuine pair. They're awesome ... bought them at a thrift store, of course!! :-)

I have a problem with my trifted pair of classic relaxed 550 jeans. Everything seems to be ok according to the video except one thing, the stamped factory code matches with tag but the number is 989 and the tag says it was made in Mexico. I dont see this number on list, can somebody help? Is it fake anyways? Thx

Great video when looking in vintage shops.I have a pair of made and crafted Selvedge from the official levis shop and they don't have the number at the back of the top button so they may be different to the standard version .

So helpful, thanks 😊! I bought some Levi’s from a charity shop (which is a thrift shop in the USA I believe?). Anyway, someone has scribbled out everything on the labels with black marker pen (although not very well) and cut out the red label on the back pocket and scalloped the hem of the jeans 😢, but they’re legit thanks to this info.
