What nobody explains: Its all about priority: attack, first and you have priority. If they try and just counter you they get hit. Once you hear them making a clean deflect, you have lost. priority. If you attack now you will get hit. Once you do a clean parry, you have priority again. Thats the main mechanic of the game.

Tip 11: If you don't spam block and work on timing your deflections you will git gud.

Tip: Perfect parry has one start-up frame and 30 active frames, so the parry window last 0.5 seconds at 60fps. If you hold the parry button for 0.5 seconds, you'll increase your chance of a parry. If you mash, you're cutting the duration of active frames short since there's no end lag which reduces the probability of a parry.

Trust me, this works. I rematched Isshin and Old Monk and was able to parry full combos. You don't have to remember boss frame data. Just hold guard the second the enemy starts an attack.

Tip 11:
Piggybacking off of tip #4.
The sound works both ways.
While attacking, you can tell when your last attacking swing will be before your enemy attacks back by the sound.
While attacking, if the enemy is blocking, the sound is a noticable lower pitch.
On the very last block, before the enemy starts attacking, the pitch will get noticably higher.

It may take a few enemies before you can tell, but once you pick it up you will never attack too many times.
The swing that you hear the pitch change means you need to go from attacking to blocking.

I recommend unlocking mid air prosthetic and doing jump attacks with the loaded axe, it comes out way faster and can help you get the jump on an enemy
Edit: consider unlocking mid air combat art as well, as you can do jumping mortal draw which is much faster and does hella damage.

I learned that if you can time it right you can stack a ton of posture damage quickly by using a combination of tools and combat arts. The purple fire cracker makes enemies take extra health and posture damage for a short time after being stunned. So you can do a combo to maximize posture damage for bosses with weak posture. You use Ako Sugar (Or Yashariku if you want) the try to set up a combo like Handful of Ash+ Fire Cracker, then use Shadowfall, but while In the air use the Lazurite Ax, it does more posture and Vitality damage if you do it while in the air. Then blast them in the face with a flame vent with Living Force so they catch on fire. Then you can basically repeat the combo from there. It's hard for me because I always mess up the rotation of my tools and weapons but if you can do it right I think that combo would be very powerful against bosses with low posture.

Small correction: you can activate the upgraded versions of the mistraven for a certain window of time after taking damage by ANY source (status build up without any damage won't trigger mistraven), so any damage over time will continuously refresh this window, enabling the mistraven to be spammed.
Even poison or burn caused by enemies or environment will do the same, it's just that contact medicine is more convenient because it's controlled and does little damage (and prevents other, more potent poisons to affect Wolf)

8:37 i love how you motivate us to be creative with the Combos and not telling them, using only Sabimaru as an example so we can learn and figure out that stuff by ourselves and still have a feeling of accomplishment!

Absolutely on a “rhythm game”! I play music and have compared this game to learning an instrument long as I’ve been playing. To be fair, I said the same thing about Bloodborne. But Sekiro seems particularly focused on audio cues. So if the game is the game is like mastering an instrument, each boss is like learning a song. Even with 300 hours into the game I still have a ways to go though. Your help has been appreciated these last 6 months. When I first got the game. Not sure why it took me so long, but it really does feel like I picked up the game precisely when I was supposed to. Cheers 🍻

"It's normal to die in this game, it's okay"
That's really the main problem with most people, they will die once or twice and instantly call a game or a boss hard or unfair instead of just learning what they did wrong or just taking their time during the fight and learning movesets.
I don't get why everyone these days has this mindset of wanting to get through a game really quickly and first try every boss.

I actually listen to some OST whenever I am stressed out, helps a lot. One of my fav is Aerith's theme from FF7 it soothes me.

The last tip is actually so true I couldn’t beat corrupted monk for anything then I took a day break from the game hoped back on listened to some music and beat her first try

The listen to music tip instead of the game ost worked for the Genichiro fight. I turned off the ingame music and played Bury The Light and boom finished that boss within like 5 tries.

improved sabimaru literally in the description states "one can fluidly swap between two separate sets of attacks as desired"

The actual hidden mechanic is the fact that the swapping attack has iframes, it's a dodge.
