So many people wonder why my posture doesn't break.
And this is it.
Posture won't break as long as you deflect even if it's full.
It'll only break when you guard.

When you realize that you can deflect almost anything when keeping your cool, this game makes you feel like such a badass.

Sekiro bizzarre adventure:posture is unbreakable

The deflect system is so genius because it turns defense into offense.

Guard:

-Posture damage is low
-Can be broken
-Dung dung dung

Deflect:

-High posture damage
-Cannot be broken (except Armored Warrior breaks it)
-Damages enemy posture while deflecting
-DING DING DING

Fun fact about this mini boss. When I first bumped into it I was freaking out, then I learnt that its pattern is just kirikaeshi - which is THE most fundamental and basic exercise you will do with a partner when learning kendo - a cut to the head first, then 4 x cuts alternating left and right going forward, then 5 x cuts alternating left and right going backwards, and finish with a cut to the head. After that I was laughing and defeated it in 20 seconds.

One thing that I'd like to add:
If you see the comparison starting from 0:48, you can see that they put thought into Sekiro's guarding and deflecting animation.

Guarding makes Sekiro's katana go fully sideways, and the blade points down to the ground, showing that the force from the enemy's blow is a bit too much for us to guard.

Deflecting meanwhile makes Sekiro's katana go diagonally up and sideways, and the blade of the katana still points towards the enemy, meaning that Sekiro can just strike down quickly and still hit.

That’s like the entire game... are people actually just guarding?

This is why sekiro's combat mechanics is the best. The enemies surely hit like a truck but sekiro is a defensive monster 🔥 it takes a lot of practice tho but when you master the art of deflect, it feels like achieving inner peace 😂

The visual effects on perfect deflects are amazing, the orange light with the copious amount of sparks goes so well with the sound effect they chose. This game is a wonder of audio and visual design.

I thought the entire purpose of this miniboss was to teach you this

I didnt know this. Even making perfect deflects, I played like it would break eventually. If I know it won't as long as I'm making perfect deflects, that gives me options. Nice video!

The audio and visual feedback you get when you deflect is such an awesome detail.

This was the video that finally showed me the light of Fromsoftware. I got this randomly recommended to me on YouTube and I immediately bought Sekiro because that deflect just looks SO cool and satisfying.

This was back in December and o quickly finished the game. I first bought Dark Souls when it came out in 2011, not because I knew what it was but I saw it in the games section and liked the cover art. I had no idea what kind of game it was and I couldn't get past the first area and was so frustrated I quickly returned it and got Fable 3.

After Sekiro, I quickly finished Ds1 and Ds3. I'm gonna wait on Ds2, hopefully gets a remaster at least. Super excited for Bloodborne next and of course Elden Ring!

Thanks again Ongbal for this video!

I also like how the animation seems slightly different for the guard too. Not referring to the posture break itself, but as the strikes are blocked. The character actually seems to stagger while blocking compared to the deflect. Nice little detail.
