The people agreeing to pay these dealer mark ups are part of the problem and deserve whatever financial ramifications that come with them.

WOW! < $500.00 worth of value for only $8, 000.00 extra. Rip offs.

You should put more emphasis on the theft that is “dealer add-ons” not just that they’re easy to steal. 7000-8000 in dealer add ons is as criminal as someone stealing your car.

Last winter we watched the security video from the dealership where I had ordered a Denali 2500HD after it disappeared overnight the day after it had arrived for a PDI. 2 thieves working together with a RFID relay system. One stood by the shop and picked up the key fov signal from inside the building and relayed it to his partner standing beside the vehicle with a reciever. The video showed the doors being unlocked and the unit started immediately. Under 15 minutes later they had replaced or flashed the ECU and disabled onstar and any other security and the thing disappeared off the map. Police called 3 months later they had found it in a container with a new VIN and keys and it was on its way to Africa.

They will learn that the economy can’t support these high prices. When median income is low (under 50k) people can’t afford to pay a 600 car payment plus another 150 insurance at the minimum. 65k for Kia is ridiculous😮

Stop buying ANY cars that have inflated prices above Factory Sticker.
This is totally in the control of car buyers.

I own a 2019 KIA Forte and Kia upgraded my car with a stronger theft protection package about a year ago, no charge to me. It's my 4th KIA and I've been more than satisfied with the car and the service. Thanks for your insight though.

*What I am impress about Kia connect (on 2023 models), is that you can track your vehicle on your phone and turn it off in case it get stolen.*

I thought Kia was an economy brand. Since when is $45K and up an "economy" class car?

The whole point of getting a Hyundai or a Kia is a lower price over say an equivalent Toyota, Honda, MB, BMW or an Audi. When a dealers adds an ADM it defeats that instantly.

I'm sure one of the reasons their prolonging the recall is because their already facing a massive class action lawsuit forcing them to recall most of their 4 cylinder engines from 2014-2020 for engine failures due to rod bearings. Their in serious trouble with all this accumulated

I just leased a 2024 Kia K5. I got extremely lucky because the particular car I chose had just been backed off the truck within the previous hour. Had I waited until the next day the dealer would have installed markups and add-ons totaling over $5, 000 over msrp.

I work in insurance. This is 100% accurate. Carriers are declining to cover without proof of software update.

I have a retirement gig in auto parts supply in Newfoundland Canada (pretty bloody rural area), Our local KIA dealer here in the city has had 3 thefts and 5 additional attempted thefts in the last 3 months or so. Historically auto theft has been extremely rare here, like less than 10 vehicles per year in a city of 350K kind of rare for comparison.

As someone from Baltimore Maryland. Another reason the city is suing is the spike in stolen KDM cars are being used I violent crimes, Robberies and other dangerous situations

Looks like the "Market adjustment", has just been relabeled to 'Dealer addons" Same screw the customer, just with different terminology. Screw all of them. I had rather walk
