Lamborghini Aventador SVJ v 585hp Kia EV6 GT: DRAG RACE

This is definitely a petrol vs electric drag race you weren’t expecting to see today!

We’ve got Mark McCann in his Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, and he’s lining up against Mat in a Kia EV6!

This is no normal EV6, though, it’s the EV6 GT! As a result, this EV is equipped with two electric motors that can produce an incredible 585hp and 740Nm of torque! It’s pretty heavy though, with its 77kWh battery pack helping it tip the scales at 2,125kg! However, it’s still relatively cheap, coming in at £63,000.

As for the Lambo, well it’s a whole lot more expensive, costing around £380,000! Naturally, though, it’s packed full of power, with its 6.5-litre V12 good for 770hp and 720Nm. It’s much lighter than the Kia, too, coming in at 1,525kg.

Think it’ll be a walkover for the Lambo? Well, perhaps Mat has a trick up his sleeve! There’s only one way to find out what it is, though… LET’S RACE!

I cannot believe how accessible this type of performance has become, 600hp 20 years ago was hypercar power and now a random kia is even faster than that

I just got my Kia ev6 gt last week…traded my 2018 Audi a4 for it and i must say im in love with the car the ride quality is amazing the interior and features are top notch i do not have any form of buyers regret at all! The only downside are the lines at the charge station then having to charge for 30 mins! But they gave me 3 years free charging. I guess the only downside to the car itself are the fact that the seats are manual and not electric I mean a 60k price tag you would think they would be but! I mean with everything else the car offers you definitely will not care about having to adjust the seat manually

I had a look at the interior of this car at show, and honestly it just looks like a space ship, it was so clean and tidy and extremely well designed I just thought I might have to get one

When we speak about tech evolution, we naturally resort to consumer electronics--- phones, TVs, computers...light years ahead of what we were using 10-20 years ago...but this is impressive and I am sure will go overlooked, and generally grouped into the electric car phenomenon, which, for all intents and purposes, has a narrative which is dominated by Tesla, and then everybody else...at least from my perspective. What really needs its flowers, at least from the auto engineering perspective, is the accessibility of pure, raw power...the type of power we only ever saw in the most super of supercars...or, alternatively, the muscled up American beasts, V8 and above, rumbling at the stop light, ready to rip off the line with a level of torque that could, and probably would, bend the chassis...but now, some decade or so later, you don't need a Lambo...or a Hellcat.... a Kia grocery getter wiill do the trick...bonkers!

The instant torque from an electric motor is amazing. Even driving my 2012 Leaf is a blast around town.
