In most cases, “monkeypox mouth sores” are not usually the ONLY sore or symptom of a monkeypox infection. There will typically be other warning signs as well (such as painful blisters and sores across the skin, crusting and scabs over the open wounds, swollen lymph nodes, body aches, headaches, fever, respiratory illness, flu-like symptoms and most notably, a rash around the genitals).

So, don’t freak out if you notice a sore in your mouth. There are wayyyyy more common reasons to notice a sore in your mouth — such as canker sores, allergies, marks from biting your tongue, biting your cheeks, burning the roof of your mouth (with pizza or hot coffee) …stuff like that!

But if you are concerned, always call your doctor’s office and/or a medical clinic site for monkeypox testing (since monkeypox symptoms can be difficult to clinically diagnose, samples are usually sent to a pathology lab for a firm diagnosis)!
