For the purple samples sometimes that rock will spawn with a little dug out area next to it. Sometimes the samples can spawn in the little dug out area, if not then that means there’s another rock formation without the hole and all the samples will be around it. Also turn off your depth of field setting and make your vertical fov around 70-75 (my personal preference) and get up to a vantage point to spot the rock formation. In some cases I’ve been able to locate the rock formation from up to 400 meters away just by doing so

after maxing out what use are they? I quit collecting samples its just pointless nonsense right now like Helldivers

Samples are too small to identify visually. There's no point looking for the actual model. Problem is the game doesn't always spawn samples. I can't tell you how many point of interests say there are samples left but none actually spawned. It sucks because you spend all your time trying to find these points and you can't even get your reward.
