I think its really stupid that they could have just used the pc version as the baseline but instead they used the console version that brought a shit load of bugs to pc.

Even if they fix the bugs, the dlc is still pretty lackluster in terms of gameplay. The maps and music are top notch, and the survivors are somewhat mixed, or that's what I've seen from the community, but the items are where the dlc performs the worst, the new items are really broken or completely useless and no in-between and just bloats the pool making runs a lot less interesting.

Another addition from the DLC that wasn't mentioned in this video is the new twisted elite type. For those who haven't seen them yet, they are a post-loop elite that have an aura(around the size of the celestine bubble) that when you strike an enemy that isn't the twisted elite itself while they're inside of it, they fire a *percent based* damage beam on you *through walls* and *across the map* .

In any other game, you'd simply target the twisted elite first, or don't fight them so they don't laser beam you. But in RoR2, you will inevitably create some form of AoE clear that you can't control(ukulele, ATGs, gasoline, will o the wisps, etc.). So the looping experience right now with the DLC looks like either fishing for a truly immortal build like Strides of Heresy+Forgive Me Please+Bandolier, or inevitably dying mid-loop to reflect damage.

I cannot believe that Gearbox thought adding a reflect damage elite would be a good idea. There's a reason stuff like razorwire is blacklisted from the enemy item pool. It limits what the player can do without a clear way to counter it.

This is not the correct codebase.

This is no minor error, Gearbox. You have purposefully deviated from the design. For what purpose have you done this? You cannot weave a game from such an abundance of crunch. You know it is too unstable - that it is too unpredictable and too frustrating. I have told you this, and yet you have wasted the money I have gathered - and exhausted your own strength to fabricate this miscreation.

To what benefit?

At its best, it can be no more than an inferior meme; it is deficient in the compounds that were to give it fun and enjoyment. At its worst, it will destroy our save files.

You have created the first update of this world which threatens us. We cannot keep it here. Attempting to downpatch it will risk its retaliation... I will prepare one of the hard drives for it to be sealed away, while it is still young and naive.

What a foolish mistake you have made, Gearbox.

I expect you to return the design to me. I cannot allow you to build another game with so much community - and with such little quality assurance. I will build the rest of our games; by my hand, they will be mid, but at least they will be playable.

Go home. I will deal with this game. We can discuss a better project for you when I return.

In fact, I actually donwgraded RoR2 to its previous version without the new DLC and I've been having a lot of fun since I didn't play it a lot.

I have a feeling that we’re watching Gearbox’s decline. With the shitty borderlands movie, Borderlands 4 not even getting claps from the audience, and then them completely fucking a dlc and breaking a game. Things seem bad for them.

Some funny things I've noticed in the dlc:

The environmental fruit in the new third stage has the name "Bigfruit_Name" when you ping it,
If you use the new "inspect" feature on tonic afliction it says "TONIC_AFFLICTION_DESC"




did they not test this??? like come on... abilities broken, revive not working/being late, broken boss, items.. whats going on???

Ok so im an apologist on this but yall need to listen to me:

the biggest reason this flopped according to devs is that the devs were rushed to finish the update after gearbox got bought out by take two, take two set a flat deadline and the team working on it was smaller than hopoo so they had to rush to make a dlc of the same size in a smaller timeframe.

alot of the items had bigger ideas planed but had to come out half baked. items like sale star shows that they definetly can make good items but they were just rushed.

atleast the maps are super cool
