Phoronix gave Zen5 GLOWING reviews in Linux....I think Zen5 is enterprise first and foremost, which makes sense....that's where the overwhelming majority of the money is

It really doesn't affect it at all.

More importantly, will it accelerate Zen 6 release?!!!

AMD 24Q2 datacenter revenue includes $1B in Instinct GPUs sales. Epyc CPU revenue for the quarter was $1.8B, which is closer to a 29% increase in sales. Still good but far from doubling

99.9% of epyc is probably going to be running on Linux, so who cares if Windows SVM fucks up the performance even in 3 months.

This should be huge for laptops, because their power consumption remained the same. AND they should be super close to desktops now in performance. This is also better for the environment. Imagine millions of PCs consuming way less power than usual and working on more efficient clockspeeds and voltages.

The reviews concentrate on gaming, which zen 5 isn't much different from zen 4. But for work zen 5 is what you would expect from a new gen, so it's fine. So I expect the same from the server chips.

They will definitely launch a 105w TDP for the 9700X and the 9800X3D will launch with a TDP similar to the 7800X3D.

Zen 5 main area of performance improvement is server/datacenter workloads.

Agreed, power efficiency is huge concern.

i opened this and tabbed out, took me about 8 minutes to realize it was a short and not a full length video lmao

AMD really, once again, shot themself in the foot with Zen 5. The sole fact that the presented benchmarks were done on a BETA version of Windows 11 (24H2), only currently available through the Insider program, shows that it was released earlier that it should have been. Let's hope the RDNA4 and Zen5x3D launches go better.

ugh that efficiency hoax again. zen5 is barely more efficient than zen4. you can take any other zen generation and get better efficiency over the predecessor, except maybe zen+.

I don't get why people are so negative about zen5. But it is a shame that amd didn't update the io die on the destop cpu's. I think that would have made a difference.

I hope to see some improvements here with zen6 what i probably going to upgrade to if needed.

heck even for non Windows workstations it seems pretty darn good.

Is it possible that the X870 chipset will improve Zen5?

And server buyers run one server on their workload if that is satisfactory they buy a shitload of them.

I think this just proves that gamers are becoming the last priority now. Unfortunately, NVidia has gone that route long ago and AMD seems to be taking those steps as well. Money over everything now😂

Zen 5 is built for servers in mind it stomps Zen 4 in workloads even those few Intel wins over Zen4 Amd is now a lot closer with Zen 5.But in vast majority of workloads it destroys 14900k/7950x.
