As a follow up to my last few videos, I was asked to talk about which weight plates I purchased. I think it makes more sense to go through a similar process for this as we did with the racks. So in today's video, we'll take a look at why I sold my Rogue Calibrated Competition Plates.

Make sure you check out the other videos in this series!

It's been a pleasure Brandon. I look forward to Part 2-13 in this series that was promised as a single video.

You catfished me, but I'm on the hook, so let's do this series.

Thanks for the shout, brother! I’m 100% with you on the uniformity thing.... But then again I have 7 different sets of plates lol.

Brandon. I don't care what you get as far as brands, but please get some proper deep-dish style plates. The steel milled plates by roguelook beautiful imo, but like you said there are many options. Thanks for being informative and posting so frequently!

I love my calibrated lb plates but I agree they aren't the easiest to manipulate. One reason I bought rogue calibrated plates during the pandemic was that you can easily resell them without a loss. The second reason is that they are one of the few 55lb steel plates on the market and, for me, plate math with 55s is easier than 45s.

I like the old school gray metal plates, that’s what I grew up using and I still think they are just as sexy. Never liked the tooty fruity colored bumpers, To each their own I guess. Calibrated plates are nice though 👍

Lol I bought like 3 weight sets on CL... Weighed them all to get them within 2% of the stated weight.
Sold the rest, rinse and repeat.

I just checked out the strong-arm website, what a great deal on calibrated plates! You could replace the plates you sold and still come out ahead!!

Spotting and loading is an honest day's work, especially with kg plates. They eventually become impossible to grip when your hands get sweaty, luckily the gym owner of the last meet I helped out with got several pairs of rubber gloves to help with that.

We are in the process of ordering weights for our new gym. Not sure what type to go with. We ordered a couple Monster racks and other goods and still researching plates. we have always used steel weights but in all honesty want the gym to look cool as well. lol

Wait, so you sold your equipment..so you didn't have to move it?

That uniformity gets me too....I can’t mismatch brands & styles of gold clubs...therefore I’ve spent my fair share on gym equipment, I’m battling it now....not only desiring the same brand...but also type...all steel or all bumpers...then rubber vs urethane??? It’s a mess...but I definitely understand
