Great stuff Curt. Thanks for giving air time to the most under-appreciated genius of our time.

I love Chris’ demeanor. He strikes me as both the guy at the biker joint who is so intelligent he also sees the false reality of going after a certain lifestyle or form of success. I actually feel this can be observed in many extremely intelligent people throughout time. It’s like once you reach a certain level of intellect or enlightenment, you realize how fake and pointless a lot of things are in our existence; probably because of lot of the man-made systems of our world are created and thought up but not-so-intellectually motivated people. Also, side note, his way of speaking with incredible vocabulary is like opening up a mechanic book without any knowledge on fixing cars. Fascinating and yet you are left with the burden of trying to make sense of the amazing images.

The assumption that science and spirituality are mutually exclusive is one of most tragic errors in human history. The entire paradigm has basically been about reducing the ineffable and the miraculous to the level of the mundane. The consequences of this have been horrific. The kind of thinking that is represented here is the antidote.

(edit: after a few weeks of interacting with responses to tis comment, I realised that "spirituality" is not really the best word for what Im referenceing. What I really mean is more along the lines of the type of wisdom conferred by transcendental experiences, and an openness to the possibility that there is more to the universe than blind, random chance. That doesn't nessecarily mean a sky god, or spirits. For me, it doesn't include anything that overrides natural law, because it can't. There is a middle ground tween religion and superstition, and abject materialism. Science is recognizing this fact more with each passing day, lately.)

Langan has all the hallmarks of a conman. Firstly his explanation of human consciousness is so basic (experiences in -> process -> action on outside world) that this idea was around at the time of Locke. The only difference is that Langan uses several made-up words to give it an academic veneer. Secondly his immediate triggering when ask about Bernard, perhaps this 'sweet-heart' simply asked one too many difficult questions that any conman would find difficult to answer.

This was a very complicated way of saying what Alan Watts put more succinctly as (and I’m paraphrasing) “we are awash in consciousness to the extent that we are no more aware of it as a fish is aware it is in water, or a bird is in the air.”

If his IQ was 400 would his answer be the same ?

It’s crazy that I can understand what he’s saying despite all the unique vocabulary he uses to convey his message. It’s his own sub language but having listened to the original podcast, it begins to make sense as you learn his language.

Can you give the time stamp where is explains what humans are? I seemed to have missed that part.

The thing that strikes me about Chris is that everywhere he pops up we need to be told about his high IQ (without any challenge from the interviewer). Who in any field has to be introduced by their exam marks or IQ scores?

After listening to Langran I learned three things. 1. He’s not smart. 2. He’s not honest. 3. CTMU isn’t a theory of anything let alone a theory of everything.

The only honest part of CTMU is that it’s author definitely has CT.

Despite his stylistic preference, there is no need to be unnecessarily wordy to make something simple seem more complex than it truly is. Here is a simpler way to understand it:

Imagine the universe is like a giant computer, and every little part of it (every quantum) is like a tiny computer piece that can take in information, decide what to keep, and send something back out. This process is like how our brains work, but on a very simple level.

The idea is that since these tiny parts of the universe are doing this kind of “thinking” or “processing, ” they are kind of “conscious, ” but not like people or animals. It’s a very basic kind of awareness.

We, on the other hand, have much more complicated brains that let us think, remember, and understand the world in a deep way. That’s why our consciousness is so much richer than the basic awareness of these tiny parts of the universe. 0:07

Wonder what he's thinking when he looks away for a few seconds? Could be anything from a new Grand Unified Theory of the Universe to 'Did I leave the oven on?'.
