Why don't LUTHERANS talk about the HOLY SPIRIT?

What we normally think about the holy Spirit is wrong, but what the Bible teaches is right, and good, and full of comfort. The biblical doctrine connects the gifts of the Holy Spirit to our callings.

Ride home from church with Pastor Wolfmueller, and hear his meandering thoughts on the Sunday, the Scriptures, and the world.

If you hear something interesting, mention the time in the comments.

I started watching your videos when I wanted to know the truth about infant baptism. I was a member of a baptist church but I couldnd't be there anymore when I understood I need to get my child baptised. She will get baptised this sunday in a lutheran church. Thank you and greetings from Sweden!

I grew up LCMS, went K-8th grade at the church school, and contemplated going into ministry at least twice in my life. Was WELS through my first marriage (sadly, that ended badly) Studied, and found a few bible teaching pastors/ministers that I learned a lot from. However, in the last few years, I have been having a bit of a crisis of faith.... I sometimes tell people the God and I are having a "spat"... but honestly, these 10-15 minutes that pop up in my feed nearly every day have taught and encouraged so much. Thanks!

It is. YouTube Theologian is absolutely an official office. Look at your outreach. ❤😊

The gift of the Holy Spirit was being abused in Paul’s day and still he didn’t stop preaching about God’s gift of the Holy Spirit. Without God’s Spirit we couldn’t know him or even want to. Praise God for his Holy Spirit to bring us to the foot of the cross in repentance.

When I started watching tour videos, I was not a lutheran yet. Now I am a lutheran.

God be praised!
Rom 8:11 (ESV) If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. As a former baptist now pentecostal, this was something I had not heard before about Lutheranism. Definitely different than how I had seen Lutherans in the past. I will have to look into the faith more...

My earliest memories of church include hearing of the Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And for the life of me, and I'm now a septugenarian, I have struggled with the concept of the Holy Spirit. We know that God has dominion over all things, we pray in the name of Jesus as our faith in Him will give us salvation, but what is the Holy Spirit and how is it we do not pray to the Holy Spirit? I admit to times I have had a wondrous feeling wash over me and I feel I am in the presence of God. Is this what it is? I find your YouTube theology to be quite refreshing and they do feed my spiritual needs.

But the thing is, it's not just the Benny Hinns of evangelicalism that abuse the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Even in churches not officially classified as "charismatic" or "pentecostal, " I've seen people who confuse the Holy Spirit with their own emotions or thoughts (including myself at one time while in evangelicalism).

Well I was almost persuaded to join my Pentecostal background with Lutheran teaching. This pastor makes a lot of sense though. I enjoyed it in spite of the innuendo of my craziness for my background which I cherish also. Godspeed

I have been reminded so many times of Scripture passages I may have studied 35 years ago. I always attribute this to the work of the Holy Spirit pointing me to the true Word and away from the false wisdom of the world. Is this correct theology? I always think the Spirit works overtime keeping me out of the weeds. I love your YouTube lessons! Thank you, Pastor

Really nic talke, When we confess "We believe in the Holy Spirit", let's stop making it mean "We pay lip service to the Holy Spirit".

I advocate, all are theologians...a few theology geeks, but, next to Child of Christ, husband, and father...YouTube Theologian is one of my favorite and cherished vocations.

I've never been Lutheran (except in the sense of being protestant) and my dad never was Lutheran either but his dad was Lutheran until the 1920s. I think my understanding of this subject similar to my dad's and that his understanding was similar to his dad's understanding.

"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." John 16:13

This passage can be understood to mean that the Holy Spirit only teaches us what he receives from our heavenly Father as Jesus only taught what he received from our heavenly Father. The passage can also be understood to mean that the emphasis of the Holy Spirit will always be on the person and work of Jesus.

Symposium on the Holy Spirit". I suspect, when he was Lutheran, my grandfather would have declined any similar invitation.

That's why it says "test the spirits" and Satan/Lucifer will also "present himself as an angel of light and his followers as workers of righteousness." (Paraphrase... See 2 Corinthians 11 verses 14 and 15).
When people allow into their churches praise bands playing stairway to heaven, and are rolling on the floor in what they think is the holy Spirit.... They have accepted another spirit. We have to be very careful.
Next step is to examine what you mean by "belief."
Repent. Trust God and obey him. ❤️
