I cannot thank you enough for making these videos, you’ve helped me immensely with my practice in stoicism as well as taught me a better understanding of it.

Also if it’s rainy or snowy and you don’t like that. You can think of the opposite problem it never rains or snows. That would be much much worse. I practice that sometimes. Like if I’m annoyed at my family, I think of the opposite problem of not having them at all, or if I have a bill, I try to be grateful that I have money to pay for it

I struggle with the past. Hard to let it go. Hard to not replay it and think what you could have done instead.

It is said that the only thing we really have control of is the breath. If we consider breath work alongside our circadian rhythm then we realize they work in lock step. Like a toggle switch, you are either in a sympathetic or parasympathetic state. There is no in between.

I used to be susceptible to road rage when cut off by other drivers here in nyc . Now I just tell myself that perhaps that person is on their way to an emergency of some sort . This Usually calms me right down . This trick works well with any type of rude behavior you might run into .

Identifying these things is step one but learning to deal with them is a much more difficult endeavor.

I remember my father used to tell me: you can't do anything about traffic when you are going late, what you can do is anticipate the time in which you get out of bed so no matter the amount of time the traffic gets out of you, you will probably be where you want to be in time.
Also don't forget to make your bed!

Can one be a Stoic, while not holding belief in any gods? I recognize things that I cannot control, but I do not see the need in attributing any of them to being in charge of another being. So far as I am concerned, nobody is driving the bus.
