Q: What is terminal velocity in Physics?
Ans: We define terminal velocity in physics as the constant and maximum velocity in downward direction when drag forces become equal to the weight of the object.
For example, consider that a paratrooper jumps off and starts falling down. Initially, the downward force or weight of the paratrooper is high due to which he accelerates fast in downward direction. With the passage of time, the magnitude of drag force (Air friction) increases; as a result, a time reaches when the upward drag forces become equal to the downward weight force. Hence, the net force on paratrooper becomes zero. Thus, paratrooper starts falling with constant velocity known as terminal velocity.

The paratrooper attains terminal velocity two times.The first time it is higher .The second time, after opening the parachute it attains a lower terminal velocity with which it lands...
