Imagine showing the 1.8mm Benchy to a professional and asking them for tips on how to dial in your printer.

The only thing left to do is, put this video to 2x for *_Superfast Build Mode_*

We all need a CNC Toothpaste applicator.

I have an idea of something you could make, if you wanted of course.
You could make an ice cream cone out of your average small mm layers, and layer the actually ice cream on it with the thick layers to give it a more realistic look.

When I saw the result I INSTANTLY thought of bowls, vases, and larger items. And while the inside might need to be smoothed a bit by hand, that raw, piped look would be just fine as a style! There’s actually an ancient pottery technique where you make your pottery from rolled clay exactly like a 3D printer makes with filament. Typically it would be treated as a scaffolding, but I think it’s cute having the ridges on the outside.

Can someone else relate when I thought the filament was toothpaste? 😭

Honestly, just basic things like a bowl wouldn’t look too bad

This nozzle would probably be good for some more abstract art type prints

That is by FAR the best benchy I've ever seen.

It'd be really cool if you could get that nozzle on a 3D printer that had two different nozzle mounts I guess is what it would be and you use the thicker one for the more structural interior supports

This is amazing for large projects that will be covered with bondo and sanded!

Make a benchy scaled up the exact same percentage as the increase in size from the nozzle. I guess that would be a benchy 4 or so times larger than normal? Just to see the comparison of quality on upscaled models

LOL reminds me of those 3D printed homes.

I know a guy who uses a 10mm nozzle to print furniture from recycled plastic, the printer he developed isn't one for on the desk though 😂

really useful for making thick internal supports out of loose spare filaments.

Print something that involves great detail like a small Lego brick or statue

I have thoughts that if you want something that thick, it might be a good idea to print it then sand it down to look solid.. decrease printing time, then increase sanding time to make it look like a smaller print nozzle

may be useful for quick sketches of your design!

I run the 3D printers for an aerospace engineering firm, and we use this EXACT 1.8mm CHT nozzle. (Although we use the 1mm one more often.)

It’s definitely not made for small parts. You wouldn’t put one on your Prusa Mini. But for large-format prototypes, it’s amazing.

Also, fun fact, these nozzles are compatible with both 1.75 and 2.85mm filament. We built a custom extruder that works with both, since we have loads of 2.85 still lying around, and need to use it up. All you need to change is the heat break, and you’re good to go! We could probably make it even easier with a custom PTFE insert, but we have a dual extruder anyways, so we haven’t done that yet.

Hmmm, probably great for vase mode (not sure about water tight though). See if you can do 0.2mm layer height with 2mm line widths?
