Mindy Morgenstern was a senior attending the Valley City State University in North Dakota and came from a farming family that resided almost 200 miles to the West in Little Blue Salem. She lived off-campus in an apartment building close to her university, a place surrounded by law enforcement officers which guaranteed her safety as she lived alone.

She was described as a happy soul, generous with advice, and always willing to stand by her lfriends, the traits everyone needs in a friend. She was considered the more responsible one among her friends, one of whom was Tony Bauman who was in a fix and needed Mindy.

On the night of September 13th, 2006, Tony was out with another friend named Danielle and the problem was that her boyfriend didn’t like her hanging out with other girlfriends. And as he started calling her, Tony came up with a cover story.

Unlike her other girlfriends, Mindy was the safe and trustable friend, but Tony’s boyfriend felt that something was up, so he asked to speak to Mindy, who wasn’t there. The two had no choice but to get Mindy from her apartment to keep their cover story intact.

As they were going to her apartment, they tried to call her and get her ready, but she wasn’t picking up

When they reached her apartment around 1 a.m., Danielle stayed in the car while Tony went to her apartment, only to find something sinister had happened.

Actually you ALWAYS check for a pulse no matter what. So that's was a wrong statement. I am a volunteer firefighter and traffic accidents are our main calls. ALWAYS CHECK FOR A PULSE!!! The body is amazing at wanting to keep going.

How did a guy convicted of attempted murder in the navy become a Correctional officer?

This is done so well. No extra. No overriding music. Succinct, no repetition.

I don’t think the old man, the ex boyfriend’s dad, was being weird at all. He formed a bond with his son’s girlfriend and wanted to leave a voicemail to hear her voice once he found out he’d never hear it again. He seemed totally distraught and sincere.

I love when people used to manipulating and pushing people around finally find themselves against those who will not budge on the truth

I looked this case up and they said they also found a broken knife in her neck. He ended up pleading guilty for the sexual assault. Other women in the jail came forward and said he sexually assaulted them when he was a correctional officer. Then the first trial for the murder of Mindy was deadlocked. He was retired and found guilty. Wow. What a monster.

He was evil well before joining the Navy. What's worse is he was charged with attempted murder served his time in a military prison and somehow got a job working as a corrections officer. He deserves to rot in jail forever. The recording system for criminals need a upgrade.

How does a guy that spends 4 years in a military prison end up in law enforcement? Shame on them because that gave him an aura of trust that he was able to take advantage of.

Imagine being scared and hugging your husband because there’s a killer on the loose but whole time he’s the actual killer😰

You should still check for a pulse. I don't know why they keep mentioning that like it's so suspicious

For those wondering how Mo Maurice Gibbs, a man convicted of attempted murder (a drive-by shooting), could of gotten a job in law enforcement/corrections officer, he changed his legal NAME from Glen Dale Morgan Jr. in 2005.

The ex’s dad leaving a voicemail was so very sweet and he was genuinely bereft.

This cop is on point with delivery. He pauses and lets him think. Great job

1. Checking for a pulse is ALWAYS a good thing.

2. The older man’s voicemail wasn’t weird AT ALL. He sounded like a typical dad or uncle. It actually made me feel so sad for him.

On his resume he probably put he spent 4 years at a military prison misleading them to think that he worked there for 4 years.

Killing someone and cooperating with an investigation is insane work

R.I.P Mindy 🌼 Although I never knew you, we are worlds apart, you should never have died like that, murdered so horribly, fighting for your life. So The murderer will die in prison that's his 1st judgement. When he dies he will face the 2nd judgement in front of God.

He can't remember the restaurant that he ate at last week, but he can remember what he wore to the T without hesitation. Also, when a person responds to an old rape charge with "I know for sure i didn't do a rape in 2013, " 99.9% chance they did it. This guy has way more than two victims 😢

His pregnant wife ran to him for protection because a murderer is on the loose. Turns out it’s her own husband who is the killer. SMH
