If this doesn't work, It's probably your microphone not on.
Press the Windows Key (ON YOUR KEYBOARD)
Search Up "Microphone"
Click on Microphone Privacy Settings
Enable "Allow apps access your microphone"
This is also for other Websites/Apps

For me it was: Edit -> Preferences -> Audio Hardware -> and here I had to select "No Input" . There was something else by default. Then it worked, I don't know why, it just did. Thank you so much for directing me to the source of the problem. Excellent video!

I had a feeling it had to do with NDI, I just downloaded it last night and when I went to edit tonight, my audio wasn't working. I knew it wasn't just a coincidence lol. You got a subscribe from me! Same! Thank you so much! 20 articles 10 videos and 4 wasted hours. This fixed it. 20 secs. Same exact NDI changes had occured. I hadn't even used Premiere w NDI b4. Should be impossible. Yet... there it was. Thanks again man. life saver.

I've been having this problem for months and didn't know how to fix it besides opening a previous project where I did have sound. Deleting the work and starting a the new project in that same work space. Thanks for this video. This solved my issue.

I did several methods before I use your method, such as
-uninstall/install premiere pro
-update window
-change speaker to headphone
-restart PC for 3 times

I am working on this video, and at the end I have a audio file placed, and only that audio file isn't audible, rest of the video behind is audible, if I turn up the level, still it doesn't work...please help

Okay, I'm having a similar problem, but somewhat different.
For my shorter video clips, such as my intro or cutscene that plays between scenes, the audio tab itself doesn't even show up.
It's just video, and I can't get it to fix. the audio plays in the preview window, but when I use it in editing, it just doesn't show up.
