How to Fix Missing Audio Waveform In Adobe Premiere Pro

If you are missing audio waveform in your timeline in Adobe Premiere Pro, there are a few fixes you can try.

First is to press the wrench icon on the timeline and choose show audio waveform. You can also use the the clip menu on top and choose generate audio waveform.

If that doesn't' generate a waveform or show you an audio waveform, you need to reset your workspace. You can click windows and reset to saved workspace.

The last option is deleting your media cache in the preferences and restarting premiere pro.

Hopefully, one of those options will fix missing audio waveform in Adobe Premiere Pro.

if they don't work, Alt+Click the audio portion of the clip to select just the audio. go to clip and select render and replace.

Deleting the cache on a 4 TB multicam project is TERRIBLE advice, if the waveform is just missing on a few clips. That would basically grind Premiere to a halt while it recreates all the .pek files. If this problem only affects a handful of clips, make sure they're not linked to anything (Cmd/Ctrl+L or right click and "unlink"), then right click on your audio clip(s) and choose "Render and replace". That fixed it for me without having to rebuild the whole project cache.

Thank you! The waveform for one of my clips was a tiny line at the top of the audio channel. Even though the other clips were full height. Resetting the workspace did the trick for me.
