Great comparison! My friend just got a Wilderness Forester and he loves it. I prefer the Outback.

I bought the only 2023 Outback Wilderness that they had in the lot yesterday. They had many Foresters to choose from in the lot. We are excited to pick this up tomorrow.

I bought a 22 Wilderness Outback about 6 weeks ago, took it on vacay to Big Bend National Park, 12 hour drive, and it was so comfortable, we played on dirt and rock roads, it did amazing! We even hung out with a 2012 Ford Raptor and it was fun! My first Subaru, but not my last!

I currently have the 2020 Subaru Forester touring and love it. My lease ends next year and considering upgrading to the Outback wilderness. I am having a hard time giving up my forester. I am currently at 46, 600 miles and will probably be close to 60k next summer when my lease ends. My forester touring was my dream car with the brown leather seats and facial recognition technology. If the 2024 forester comes out next year I will upgrade to another forester.

If the forester had the 2.4 T I would have considered it over the outback. And if any of the wilderness came with a manual and the 2.4 that would be my choice.

Thinking to trade in my 19 golf r for this. Need more room and power

Outlander seems to have a bit of a higher roofline over the Outback, correct? Thinking that contributes to its slightly boxier style.

I'd like to know the forester owners thoughts on the horsepower. Ive test drove a forester and it felt good, but its hard to tell since it was a short ride. From a long term owner I am curious if you are often times you are wishing for more power or if it seems adequate for the forester? I like the idea of having 80 more horsepower, in the outback, especially as I live at high altitude. I am struggling deciding between the forester and the outback, I really like the look of the forester more but the lower horsepower worries me.

I wish you had talked a bit more about the power and handling differences in your experience. I love the Forester look a little more than the outback but am being pulled by the outbacks more powerful engine.

I wonder can you guys comment on differences in every day fuel economy, performance, easiness to park in tight spaces etc..? Many thanks in advance for all your knowledge 👍

Biggest difference: Way easier to get in an out of the Forrester. You don't need to crane your neck when slipping in and out of the driver side because of the door size

Ok for 2023 which one should a first time buyer purchase the Outback Wilderness or Forester Wilderness in your opinion?

So you have to wait until the screen finishes booting up to change the air condition?

Outback touchscreen would drive me crazy. Forester gets better MPG. The cargo area is better in Forester is easier to use with a wider entry and a taller roof… really don’t get much more usable space with the Outback. The Forester Wilderness also gets a transmission cooler that I don’t think the Outback gets. The Forester wilderness also has 147 lbs more payload… if your Overlanding you will need the extra payload capacity. That Turbo engine runs the oil in the engine much hotter… be concerned long/ term. The visibility in the Forester is much better. If you watch Sarah n tuned she tested both 22 wilderness’s and the Outback couldn’t climb a hill after several tries and the Forester did it on the first try. Finally the Outback Wilderness is about $4000 more. If you are getting the Wilderness for Overlanding definitely get the Forester. It does just find loaded at altitude and hills. If you love that turbo maybe should consider another vehicle that can really accelerate.

I F*CKING HATE!! that textured plastic on my wifes crosstrek. It's a goddamn nightmare for wax/sealant application and it's worse to clean and prep for a ceramic coating. WTF was subaru thinking?
