I wewnt ahead and made the switch to cubase from FL Studio. Been using FL since 2003, so Cubase 13 Pro is the one, even tho it takes awhile to get your head around where everything is, but its power is unmatched...

Variaudio has been a god send for nearly 2 decades. I've been using it since cubase 5!

As far as I remember, the creator of cubase was hired to design the earliest versions and overall engine of studio one… I started in cubase and when studio one came out I easily transitioned… what you get in Studio One is a younger and sleeker daw that is cohesive and streamlined but lacks in a lot of features of a more mature daw like Cubase… what you get in Cubase is a mature DAW with pretty much every feature under the sun, but an interface that feels a bit antiquated and tacked together instead of built cohesively…

TLDR: Studio One is Cubase’ younger more attractive sibling, but Cubase is wise and more capable overall.

I don't get this at all. Studio One literally has built-in Melodyne. And when you have the editor or Studio version of Melodyne why would you want Cubase's offering. Indeed the chord track and arranger are the main reason's I didn't switch in the end - it's just too painful and slow in Cubase. And there is no listen bus or separate mastering process either - which sucks

Cubase 13 has dropped support for the ability to undo and redo changes made to stock as well as 3rd party VST INSTRUMENT parameters. They still have this working fine for VST EFFECT plugins (Mixconsole Undo and Redo) there are separate commands for Un doing and re doing arrangment edits and changes made to the mixconsole and the plugins. No other daw does this in todays day and age. Except for offering the range selection tool in the midi editor they havent really added any other quality of Life updates. Studio One can automatically stretch Audio to the project tempo when you drag it into your session and if you decide to change the tempo of your project, you can do so without bouncing or merging clips together (the odd behaviour experienced when using the set Definition from tempo feature in Cubase). That will not maintain the edits and fades added to the audio parts. You can draw fades directly onto the arrangement and you dont even need to open up a fade editor in Studio One.

To be brutally honest Steinberg is really stuck in the early 2000s.

Cubase is amazing and I don’t know about other daws but it of very unreliable sometimes. And by sometimes I mean far too often.
