Blood Meridian is such a phenomenal book, it makes me so happy just to see people talking about it.

It's hard to put into words how Blood Meridian makes you feel when reading. But I'll just say...it transcends a western story. Transcends fictions as a whole really. When I read it, it felt like I was reading something ancient . Something Biblical.

You did it, you really did it! You really are the Red Dead Redemption!

Wonder if the writers of Red Dead might've been atleast a little inspired by that book. Especially given how there actually was a real person that inspired the Judge.

John:"Landon, what the hell you talking about? I thought you were gonna teach me how to shoot. My request was made in ernest."

Landon:"....And the answer."

in retroperspective, Landon was a wiser and older John Marston that got the chance to grow old, it kind of make a perspective about this world

also hot damn your voice is like Testosterone decided to drink root beer directly from the root of the Beer with Steröïd

"You know, John, I have lived a long life; I've seen this land when it was just wilderness and scrub; I've seen missionaries nail the crosses by sham and burnt it into the cinders of their misguided devotion; I've seens slaves get set free and returned to a bondage even more confusing than the one they left behind; I've seen diseases wipe out entire communities in a weekend; I've seen bad men make their own Valhalla out in the bush with harems of maidens and the hunting of men as sport; I've seen men struggle with principles and morals in the very meaning of existence; I've killed all that can be killed; but I have never in my natural born days seen anything quite like this."

Thats cool, but can we just take a moment to acknowledge what a cryin' effing shame it was that Landon Ricketts wasn't in RDR2?

If anyone makes a blood meridian game, it should be rockstar, they're masters at making story driven games, i cant imagine what they would do with a story like blood meridian.

For the last 4-5 years i have seen the blood meridian getting more and more attention, even outside of usa. Why?

I hear people criticize tolkien for being too black and white with evil, and having shallow narratives, but i think mccarthy (and george martin for a similar setting) takes it all the way to the opposite end. It would be refreshing to see a character or characters in a dark, corrupted, harsh world maintain their sense of honor and heroism, and not be immediately killed off for it. Hate for the hero and wholesomeness came pretty hard in to novels during nam, and that nihilism continued to spread even to today. Nihilism is easy to fall in to, especially if you’re a weak freak.

Bought the book, read a solid part of it.

Sadly it never caught on.
