so funny to me that Cormac Mccarthy is this sweet-tempered, soft-spoken, southern gentleman choir director in real life but do NOT get it twisted he KNOWS about the horrors of American history and he WILL create imagery you'll carry with you behind your eyes forever

I volunteered to tutor in a middle school creative writing class and on the first day we do a little debrief and one guy casually throws out “yeah, I was gonna recommend that one book… Blood something, but I couldn’t remember it’s name—“ and the group leader grabbed him and said “No! Don’t recommend that! That book cannot be read by middle schoolers. We will get in trouble. It’s not just gore. It’s TV-XA like pedophiles and shit!”

It's a very wholesome book just like all of Cormac's books. It even ends in a fun dance. Some say he still dances to this day.

The author passed away recently. Blood Meridian has truly opened my eyes to the horrors of what people can do and what they're actually capable of doing to other people who are admittedly lower in rank/position. A story about heartbreak, terror, and bloody revenge, it's got all the elements that'll keep you hooked til the end of time.
